Fortnite is further embracing artificial intelligence with Epic Games announcing an AI-powered chatbot designed to streamline player support inquiries.
The primary goal of this new Fortnite AI chatbot is to help players quickly find answers to their support questions. Initially, it will be rolled out to just 1% of users on Fortnite’s English-language support site as part of a testing phase. Epic plans to make it more widely available in the future.
This isn’t Epic’s first foray into AI. Earlier this year, Microsoft introduced its own AI chatbot to assist Xbox users with various functionalities.
Prior to that, Epic Games utilized AI to recreate the voice of the late James Earl Jones, allowing players to interact with an AI-driven Darth Vader character within Fortnite. Following this, Epic also unveiled an AI-powered NPC Persona device, enabling users to craft their own unique AI characters.
Artificial intelligence technologies have long been a part of game development, but recent advancements, particularly in generative AI, have accelerated their integration. However, the increasing use of AI in gaming has also sparked controversy, with concerns ranging from potential job displacement to issues of plagiarism.
In other Fortnite news, rumors suggest that characters from the popular Netflix movie KPop Demon Hunters will be joining the Fortnitemares 2025 event, expected to kick off in early October. Details are still emerging, but leaks hint at a spooky season filled with new festivities.
Additionally, Epic Games recently removed a John Cena emote following a significant plot twist in the second season of Peacemaker.
