An unusual incident forced a Ryanair flight from Milan to London to make an emergency landing in Paris. The disruption occurred approximately 15 minutes after takeoff when two passengers began exhibiting bizarre behavior.
According to a fellow passenger, one individual started tearing up pages of his passport and eating them. Shortly after, his companion reportedly rushed to the rear of the plane and tried to flush his own passport down the toilet. Flight attendants attempted to de-escalate the situation, but the passengers refused to cooperate, causing considerable alarm among those on board.
The flight crew, citing the escalating tension and the passengers’ erratic actions, made the decision to divert the flight to Paris. The witness described the flight’s descent as a “terrifying” experience.
Upon landing, French authorities met the aircraft, apprehended the two men, and conducted a thorough search of the plane and passengers’ belongings. The diversion and subsequent investigation caused a delay of about two hours before the flight could resume its journey to London Stansted Airport.
While the crew was commended for their handling of the stressful situation, the motives behind the passengers’ actions remain unclear, and authorities have not released details on any potential charges.
