The anticipation for Kocha Agasawa’s beloved romantic comedy web manga, ‘The Ramparts of Ice’ (also known as ‘Ice Castle Wall’), is reaching a fever pitch! Fans can now mark their calendars, as the official TV anime adaptation is slated to premiere in Japan in April 2026. Alongside this exciting news, the project has unveiled its captivating teaser trailer and a striking new visual, giving us our first real glimpse into this heartwarming story.

Adding to the excitement, the talented main voice cast ready to bring these characters to life has been announced:

  • Koyuki Hikawa will be voiced by Anna Nagase, known for her role as Ushio Kofune in Summer Time Rendering.
  • Miki Azumi is brought to life by Fuka Izumi, who played Meme Bashame in My Deer Friend Nokotan.
  • Minato Amamiya will be voiced by Shoya Chiba, recognized as Kiyotaka Ayanokoji in Classroom of the Elite.
  • Yota Hino is voiced by Satoshi Inomata, known for his work as Shugo Hoshikawa in Anyway, I’m Falling in Love with You..

Behind the scenes, the creative team is equally impressive. Mankyu, who directed works like THE iDOLM@STER SHINY COLORS and Pui Pui Molcar The Movie MOLMAX, is taking the helm as director for ‘The Ramparts of Ice’ TV anime at Studio KAI. Yashihiro Nakanishi, recognized for Mecha-Ude: Mechanical Arms, is crafting the series composition, ensuring a coherent and engaging narrative. Miki Ogino is responsible for the anime’s character designs, while Kanade Sakuma and Natsumi Tabuchi will be composing the enchanting soundtrack.

For those unfamiliar with the source material, ‘The Ramparts of Ice’ began its journey as a self-published webtoon before finding a wider audience through the Line Manga app, where it was serialized from January 2020 to April 2022. Shueisha later collected the series into 14 printed volumes. Its popularity is undeniable, having secured an impressive second place in AnimeJapan’s ‘Manga We Want To See Animated Ranking’ poll in 2023.

The story itself is a charming exploration of connection. It centers on a high school girl named Koyuki, who, despite her true nature, is perceived as unapproachable due to her perpetually cold facial expressions and demeanor. Her isolated world begins to change when a persistent boy unexpectedly tries to get close to her. As two more individuals eventually join their circle, a delightful and sometimes exasperating journey of youth, friendship, and self-discovery unfolds. Prepare to be charmed by this heartwarming tale!
