Naoki Hamaguchi, co-director for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3, has addressed player feedback regarding the pacing of the initial two games in the trilogy. Fans often felt certain sections in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth stretched on for too long, prompting Hamaguchi to reveal that the development team is actively “striking a balance” to ensure the upcoming third installment offers a more streamlined and well-paced experience.
While Hamaguchi personally believed the longer segments served their purpose in the game, he understands that today’s gamers have a vast array of titles to choose from, often leading to a desire for quicker progression in their play sessions.
Hamaguchi explained his perspective, stating: “Regarding time management in certain sections, especially in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, I honestly don’t believe that they were longer than necessary. I feel like nowadays, players just have too much to do and too much to play—so they often feel the urge that something has to be concluded quickly. As we work on the conclusion to the trilogy, we are striking a balance on how story arcs are told and spread out so as to ensure that the game feels a bit more concise.”
Full-scale development for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 began swiftly after Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth launched in 2024. Square Enix has publicly committed to delivering a “high-quality” finale, with plans for the game to be available on multiple platforms. Fans can anticipate Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade arriving on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S consoles early next year, while the release date for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on these platforms remains unannounced.
For PlayStation 5 players who have yet to experience the journey, a special Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade & Rebirth Twin Pack is available for preorder, set to release on December 4.
