Even though Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth received glowing critical praise at launch, Square Enix recently revealed that its sales didn’t quite hit initial expectations. However, fans can breathe a sigh of relief! Director Naoki Hamaguchi has personally assured everyone that Part 3 will still be a top-tier, ‘proper, high-quality’ conclusion to the epic saga.
Hamaguchi shared that while initial sales for Rebirth were indeed lower than anticipated, the game is now gaining significant momentum, particularly with its strong performance on PC. This continued success ensures the development team can dedicate all necessary resources to make the third installment truly shine and do the series justice.

Though Hamaguchi couldn’t reveal specific details about the official title for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 (it’s currently just known as ‘Part 3’), he confirmed that development is progressing smoothly.
He enthusiastically added, “Development is progressing wonderfully, and the game is truly coming together. Much of the content is already playable, and its core direction and structure are firmly established. The entire team is currently focused on polishing every detail.”
Furthermore, Hamaguchi recently told a German publication that this concluding chapter of the Remake trilogy is set to be a “truly fitting finale.”
He elaborated on the progress: “We are actively developing ‘Part 3’ right now. We even have playable builds that allow us to experience its central themes through gameplay. We have a clear vision, and everything is heading in the right direction; we’re continuously working to make it even better. We hope to share more details soon. This will be the grand climax and ultimate finale of the series, and we are dedicated to making it a truly suitable and magnificent send-off. We believe it will thoroughly satisfy and delight fans who have been with us until the very end. Rest assured, it’s in capable hands, and more information will be coming your way in the near future!”
