The esteemed Hindustani classical vocalist, Pandit Chhannulal Mishra, peacefully passed away at the age of 89 in the early hours of Thursday, October 2, 2025. He breathed his last at his daughter’s residence in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, after a period of age-related illness.
“He had been receiving hospital care for the past 17-18 days due to various age-related health concerns. This morning, around 4 a.m., he passed away at home,” his daughter, Namrata Mishra, conveyed to PTI.
A revered figure in Indian classical music, Pandit Mishra’s final rites are scheduled to take place in Varanasi at 5 p.m. He leaves behind a profound musical heritage and is survived by his son, renowned tabla player Ramkumar Mishra, and three daughters, who will carry on his legacy.
