Facebook Overseas, a key entity under Meta Platforms Inc., is making a strategic foray into India’s burgeoning artificial intelligence landscape. The company will now hold a 30% interest in the new AI venture launched by billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries, as confirmed by a recent regulatory filing.
This significant partnership will see an initial joint investment of ₹855 crore. Reliance Intelligence, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Reliance Industries Ltd., and Facebook are pooling their resources to bring this innovative venture to life.
According to the filing, Reliance Intelligence Ltd. formally established Reliance Enterprise Intelligence Ltd. (REIL) on October 24, 2025. This newly incorporated entity in India will function as the joint venture company under an amended agreement with Facebook Overseas, Inc., a Meta Platforms subsidiary.
REIL’s core mission will be to develop, market, and distribute advanced enterprise AI services, aiming to cater to the growing demand for AI solutions across various industries.
Under the terms of the joint venture agreement, Reliance Intelligence will maintain a 70% ownership stake in REIL, with Facebook holding the remaining 30%.
Both Reliance Intelligence and Facebook have committed a combined initial investment of ₹855 crore to power this ambitious venture, underscoring their confidence in India’s AI potential.
