Eager to know about the next big Dead by Daylight update? Fresh chapters drop consistently every three months, bringing a wave of new characters, maps, perk tweaks, and other exciting content. While it can be a challenge to keep track of everything, the game’s reliable update schedule means we can often anticipate the next chapter even before its secrets are fully revealed.
It’s truly impressive how much content has been poured into this horror game over the past decade! Behaviour Interactive continues to craft innovative perks and abilities for its ever-expanding roster of killers and survivors. With original creations like The Unknown and iconic licensed characters such as The Walking Dead’s additions, the Dead by Daylight universe now boasts an impressive 39 killers and 47 survivors. The upcoming Chapter 37 is set to introduce another original killer and survivor, and we’ve gathered all the available information, including the crucial Chapter 37 release date, right here for you.
Next Dead by Daylight Update Release Date
Mark your calendars! The next Dead by Daylight chapter is scheduled for release on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 8 AM PDT / 11 AM EDT / 4 PM BST.
This highly anticipated launch maintains the traditional three-week gap between the Public Test Build (PTB) and the official live update. Chapter 37 promises significant overhauls to several existing characters, with Michael Myers receiving particular attention, alongside groundbreaking new mechanics to counter “slugging,” and a fresh survivor. Let’s delve into the most noteworthy changes.
Introducing the New Killer
The 9.2.0 update is set to unleash a terrifying new killer into The Fog. While yet to be officially named, strong rumors and leaks suggest it will be “The Krasue,” a chilling entity from Thai folklore. This horrifying figure is typically depicted as a disembodied female head, which aligns perfectly with early information hinting at a young woman’s head detaching from her body. Survivors caught nearby would be subjected to a terrifying transformation, slowing them down and forcing them to witness the gruesome event. All current details are based on leaks and subtle official teasers, such as a neon sign translation in a promotional video that points directly to “Krasue.”
Exciting Slugging Reworks
Good news for survivors! Officially confirmed changes to “slugging” are finally arriving with this PTB. According to the developer updates, survivors who remain in the dying state on the ground for more than 90 seconds will now have the ability to pick themselves up. Furthermore, survivors will be able to crawl and heal simultaneously, effectively integrating the benefits of the Tenacity and Unbreakable perks directly into the base game mechanics. While these changes might see further adjustments after the PTB phase, a 90-second window seems like a well-balanced duration, preventing excessive survivor teasing while also avoiding prolonged periods of inactivity for downed players.
Major Overhaul for The Shape
Though several killers, including The Clown and The Unknown, are receiving updates, the most significant reworks in this patch are finally coming to The Shape (Michael Myers). His signature power, Evil Within, is being completely replaced. Myers will no longer need to charge his power; instead, he now begins with both Stalker Mode and Pursuer Mode active. Engaging Stalker Mode will fill Myers’ new Evil Incarnate gauge, providing him with increased movement speed and a powerful Slaughtering Strike lunge attack. During this state, he can also perform a “Mort” on survivors, but only if they are already on their final hook stage. While specifics on his add-ons are still scarce, we’re eagerly anticipating substantial improvements, especially to the notorious “Tombstone Myers” build.
Upcoming DBD PTB Status
Please note: The recent Public Test Build (PTB) was concluded prematurely due to community feedback and concerns regarding the initial slugging and tunneling adjustments. These reworked mechanics are expected to reappear in a subsequent PTB session.
The earlier PTB did offer a glimpse of the new killer, The Krasue, and a new survivor. However, it’s currently uncertain if players will get additional hands-on time with these characters before the full chapter launch, though it seems unlikely given the early closure.
How to Access and Play the DBD PTB
For those eager to dive into the Public Test Build (PTB) on Steam, here’s a simple guide:
- Locate Dead by Daylight in your Steam library and right-click on it.
- From the context menu, select ‘Properties’.
- Navigate to the ‘Betas’ tab.
- In the beta participation dropdown menu, choose ‘public-test’.
- The game will then require a redownload to apply the PTB version.
Keep in mind that while playing the PTB, your progress is a snapshot from the main game. Any Bloodpoints spent, Bloodweb progression, or character unlocks made within the PTB will revert to your last saved state from the live version once you switch back.
