Battlefield Redsec, the exhilarating free-to-play Battle Royale mode for Battlefield 6, has officially arrived with the game’s Season 1 update. Electronic Arts surprised players by launching the mode on Tuesday across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X with very little advance notice. Beyond a traditional Battle Royale experience, Redsec also introduces ‘Gauntlet,’ a new multiplayer-inspired mode. EA has now shared a comprehensive roadmap detailing all the exciting new content for both Redsec and Battlefield 6 Season 1.
In a recent blog post on the official Battlefield 6 website, EA provided an in-depth look at the new Redsec mode and all the upcoming content as part of the planned Season 1 roadmap. This standalone mode kicks off with its brand-new Battle Royale map, Fort Lyndon, and the innovative Gauntlet mode, marking the initial phase of Season 1’s content rollout.
Battlefield Redsec Features
Redsec’s Fort Lyndon map offers a unique government testing ground filled with hidden secrets. Players will navigate an urban environment featuring numerous towering buildings and abundant opportunities for tactical destruction. The map boasts nine significant points of interest, ranging from picturesque beaches to sprawling military complexes. EA has proudly declared Fort Lyndon to be the largest map ever featured in Battlefield history.
The Battle Royale mode currently supports intense 100-player matches, playable in teams of two or four. Players begin by selecting their class and a trusty sidearm, then drop into the fray to scavenge for superior weapons and gear. Throughout a match, players can also unlock powerful additional abilities, useful gadgets, and strategic call-ins to gain a crucial advantage over rival teams.
Adding to the excitement, Redsec also introduces the new Gauntlet mode, which focuses on squad-based elimination missions. In this mode, eight squads go head-to-head through a series of diverse missions with varying objectives, culminating in a dramatic final showdown.
Gauntlet features eight distinct mission types that rotate each round. At the conclusion of every round, the two lowest-ranking teams are eliminated, ramping up the pressure and competition.
Battlefield Redsec further enhances the experience with updates to the Portal mode, empowering players to create their own custom Redsec experiences.

Battlefield 6 Season 1 Update
As part of the Battlefield 6 Season 1 update, EA has also announced a completely revamped Battle Pass system, featuring over 100 tiers of content. This includes a premium, paid Battle Pass, known as Battlefield Pro, which offers players even greater rewards and exclusive benefits.
As previously announced, the initial Season 1 content drop includes a brand-new large-scale multiplayer map called Blackwell Fields. It also introduces a thrilling new 4v4 multiplayer mode, Strikepoint. This first phase of Season 1 content, aptly titled Rogue Ops, also brings a fresh array of vehicles, weapons, and weapon attachments to the game.
The second phase of Season 1, dubbed California Resistance, is slated for release on November 18. This update will introduce another new map, a limited-time game mode, an additional Gauntlet mission specifically for Redsec, and more new vehicles and weapons.
Finally, on December 9, the third and final phase of Season 1, titled Winter Offensive, will roll out. This update will feature a snow-covered rendition of the existing Empire State multiplayer map, a new limited-time Gauntlet event, and further content additions.
