One of the most anticipated horror films of 2025 has finally arrived on 4K Blu-ray! ‘Weapons,’ the sophomore feature from acclaimed ‘Barbarian’ director Zach Cregger, is currently in stock for $28 at Amazon and ready to ship this week. However, if you’re eyeing the coveted Steelbook Edition, there’s a catch: after being sold out for two months, it’s back in stock but at a significantly higher price of $59.
For those hoping to snag the Steelbook, be aware that Amazon is still listing it as a preorder, with estimated shipping not until December 8. The good news is you won’t be charged until it ships, so there’s a chance the price might dip closer to its original $38-$45 range. It’s also worth noting that the Steelbook has sold out and been restocked multiple times in a short period, so if you miss it, keep checking the store page!
If you’re considering other options, the standard Blu-ray edition is priced at $23, and the DVD at $18, though both have an estimated one-to-two-month delivery window on Amazon. Alternatively, Walmart offers the Blu-ray for $23 and the DVD for $18, with both editions available for immediate shipping and next-day delivery.
Weapons Editions:
- 4K Blu-ray: $28 (Also available at Walmart)
- 4K Steelbook Edition: $59 (Restocked October 14)
- Blu-ray: $23 (Also available at Walmart)
- DVD: $18 (Also available at Walmart)
The 4K Blu-ray edition of ‘Weapons’ comes packed with features, including Dolby Vision and HDR10 support, along with three immersive surround sound tracks: Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD 7.1, and Dolby Digital 5.1. You’ll also find a digital edition voucher via Movies Anywhere. Both 4K Blu-ray editions and the 1080p Blu-ray release include behind-the-scenes videos and three compelling featurettes:
- Director Zach Cregger: Making Horror Personal
- Weaponized: The Cast of Weapons
- Weapons: Texture of Terror
The Limited Edition Steelbook, which previously sold out quickly, showcases Alex Lilly (Cary Christopher) peering out his window on the front cover, with the ominous 2:17 glow of an alarm clock on the back. The interior artwork features a creepy rendition of Alex alone in his classroom. This edition includes 4K Blu-ray, 1080p Blu-ray, and digital versions of ‘Weapons.’
‘Weapons’ itself is a truly captivating and profoundly unsettling horror film set in a quiet suburban town in Pennsylvania. The community is plunged into unimaginable grief when, mysteriously, all but one child from a third-grade class vanish from their homes at 2:17 AM. Initially, the investigation and the anger of parents like Archer (Josh Brolin) target the third-grade teacher, Justine. However, much like Cregger’s 2022 directorial debut, ‘Barbarian,’ ‘Weapons’ quickly veers into far stranger, creepier, and more disturbing territory than initially perceived. Cregger both wrote and directed ‘Weapons,’ delivering a brilliantly told story through multiple viewpoints that skillfully jumps between the before and after of the children’s disappearance. It stands as one of the highest-rated horror movies of the year.
While fans eagerly await a physical release for Cregger’s first film, ‘Barbarian,’ his next project is already generating buzz: a ‘Resident Evil’ adaptation set within the world of ‘Resident Evil 2,’ currently in pre-production and slated for theaters next year.
Interestingly, while the ‘Weapons’ Steelbook is pricy, another critically acclaimed horror film, ‘The Long Walk,’ based on a Stephen King novel, has an upcoming Amazon-exclusive 4K Steelbook Edition available for preorder at a discounted $26.65 (originally $35). This is just one of many Amazon-exclusive horror Steelbooks available for preorder, including trio of ‘Saw’ movies (‘Saw 2, 3, and 4’) arriving on 4K Blu-ray for the first time on October 28, complete with incredibly cool steelbook and slipcover artwork.
For horror aficionados, two deeply discounted Shudder Blu-ray collections are also available for preorder. Shudder’s 10th Anniversary Collector’s Edition, which features 10 of its biggest hits on 1080p Blu-ray, is now only $62.38 (down from $120) on Amazon. Additionally, ‘Creepshow: Complete Series’ is discounted to just $53.22 (from $100), offering all four seasons of the anthology series in comic-inspired cases and an awesome display box. Both Shudder box sets are set to launch on November 11.
