Reading Time: 6 min

Retro gaming enthusiasts, listen up! While Atari-branded handhelds are plentiful, My Arcade’s latest offering, the Atari Gamestation Go, promises the ultimate portable experience. This impressive 7-inch handheld comes packed with over 200 games and features unique control options like a paddle, trak-ball, and even a numeric keypad. If you’re eager to get your hands on this $180 portable, act fast! Preorders are already sold out on Atari’s official website, but you can still grab one on Amazon before its October 31 release.

Mark your calendars! The Atari Gamestation Go launches on October 31, the same day as the special Pac-Man Edition of the cartridge-based Atari 2600+ console. Below, we delve deeper into the features of the Gamestation Pro.

My Arcade Atari Gamestation Go

Price: $180 | Releases October 31

The Gamestation Go is designed to authentically recreate the joy of playing over 200 Atari classics, thanks to its versatile control options. On the left, you’ll find a D-pad, a responsive trak-ball, and an integrated paddle. To the right, beneath the four face buttons, lies a 12-button numeric keypad, complete with 0-9, pound, and asterisk keys. Four convenient shoulder buttons complete the layout. This device truly offers the most comprehensive handheld experience for Atari’s 8-bit and 16-bit eras, where a diverse array of controllers was common. A standout feature is SmartGlow, which intelligently lights up the relevant controls for each game as you play. The extensive game library spans arcade and console titles from the Atari 2600, 5200, 7800, and Atari Arcade, boasting partnerships with major publishers like Bandai Namco (for Pac-Man), Jaleco, and Piko Interactive. You’ll also find five ‘Recharged’ versions of beloved classics, including Asteroids and Centipede, along with the pinball game ‘Balls of Steel’ featuring seven tables. While the 7-inch built-in display offers a great portable experience, you can easily connect the Gamestation Go to your TV or monitor via the included HDMI cable for big-screen gaming. For multiplayer, the handheld includes two USB-C ports. While My Arcade plans to release official controllers and joysticks, it’s expected that the Gamestation Go will also support other third-party controllers, much like its home console counterpart, the Game Station Pro.

My Arcade Atari Gamestation Pro

Price: $80 (originally $100)

For those who prefer gaming on a larger screen, My Arcade’s Atari Gamestation Pro is a dedicated home console that launched in late 2023. It also features a library of over 200 games and comes with two wireless joysticks. Currently priced at $80, it’s an excellent value for TV-centric gamers. You can even find refurbished versions in ‘excellent’ condition for just $60. While the included joysticks are functional, the Gamestation Pro supports a wide range of third-party controllers via a wired USB connection, offering more customization for your gaming setup.

My Arcade Retro Handhelds

Description: Budget-friendly portables for $40 or less.

My Arcade stands out as a leading creator of affordable retro handhelds, offering devices inspired by classic arcade titles and early home console games. If the $180 price tag of the Gamestation Go is a bit steep, you’ll be pleased to know there are many excellent alternatives available from My Arcade in the $25-$40 range. These budget-friendly portables come in various themes, including Tetris, Atari, Mega Man, Street Fighter, Pac-Man, and other beloved classics. Explore My Arcade’s diverse lineup, featuring their Pocket Player Pro, Pocket Player, and the new Pixel Pocket Pro handheld series.

Explore the Standard My Arcade Pocket Player Handhelds

Beyond the Pro series, My Arcade offers its standard Pocket Player handhelds. While the Pro models boast superior ergonomics and controls, the regular Pocket Players often come with a generous selection of built-in games, usually at least three. This can make choosing between, say, a Pac-Man Pro and a standard Pac-Man handheld a fun challenge! For instance, the standard Tetris Pocket Player is a steal at $25, compared to the Pro’s $45. There’s even a unique vertical-format version of Tetris, the ‘Tetris Go Gamer,’ available for $26 (down from $35). Most Pocket Player screens, like their Pro counterparts, measure 2.75 inches. A notable bonus: the ‘Tetris Pocket Player’ (also known as Tetris Gamer V) includes an impressive 200 additional games!

* All-Star Arena (307 games) – $35
* All-Star Stadium (307 games) – $40
* Bubble Bobble (3 games) – $34
* Contra (2 games) – $55.45
* Data East (308 games) – $40
* Don Doko Don (3 games) – $35
* Galaga (3 games) – $40
* Gamer V (220 games) – $25
* Ms. Pac-Man (3 games) – $45
* Pac-Man (3 games) – $39
* Tetris (201 games) – $25

Introducing My Arcade’s Pixel Pocket Pro Handhelds

My Arcade has recently unveiled its newest collection of affordable handhelds: the Pixel Pocket Pro series. These devices feature a cool, stylized design with ridged corners that perfectly capture the charm of pixel art. Each Pixel Pocket Pro sports a 2-inch color display, runs on three AAA batteries, and comes with a handy keychain clip. You’ll find a mix of horizontal and vertical designs; for example, the Atari model (which includes 25 games) and Tetris come in a horizontal layout, while classics like Pac-Man and Galaga feature a vertical orientation.

* All-Star Sports (18 games) – $30
* Atari (25 games) – $30
* Galaga (3 games) – $30
* Mega Man (6 games) – $30
* Ms. Pac-Man – $30
