Former U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, that he experienced ‘three very sinister events’ during his visit to the United Nations on Tuesday. He stated that the Secret Service would be investigating these incidents.
During his appearance at the U.N. General Assembly, the former President delivered a scathing speech, criticizing the institution for failing to live up to its potential. He also took aim at U.S. allies in Europe, lambasting their approach to the conflict in Ukraine and their immigration policies, tellingly proclaiming to world leaders that their countries were “going to hell.”
On his social media platform, Truth Social, Mr. Trump conveyed that these series of unfortunate events contributed to his negative mood at the U.N., suggesting they were part of a deliberate conspiracy against him.
The first incident involved an escalator that “came to a screeching halt” while Mr. Trump and his entourage were on it. He vehemently declared this an act of “absolute sabotage.”
Stephane Dujarric, the U.N. spokesman, clarified that a videographer from the U.S. delegation, who had moved ahead of Mr. Trump, might have “inadvertently” activated the escalator’s stop mechanism at the top.
Mr. Trump, however, remained unconvinced, stating on Truth Social that “The people that did it should be arrested.”
Secondly, Mr. Trump reported that his teleprompter abruptly went “stone cold dark” during his address to the U.N. However, a U.N. official, who wished to remain anonymous due to the sensitive nature of the issue, noted that the White House was responsible for operating the teleprompter for the president.
The third alleged incident involved the sound system, which Mr. Trump claimed was off during his speech. He mentioned that attendees could only hear his remarks through interpreters using earpieces, and even his wife, Ms. Melania, reportedly confirmed she couldn’t hear him speak.
Concluding his account, Mr. Trump asserted, “This wasn’t a coincidence, this was triple sabotage,” and announced he would seek a formal investigation into the matter.
He further instructed the U.N. to preserve all security tapes related to the escalator incident, confirming the Secret Service’s involvement in the impending inquiry.
