Grab your fishing rod because it’s time for a brand new Minecraft adventure! Mojang has teamed up with Conservation International to release an exciting educational add-on called Friendly Fishing. Described as “an epic fishing adventure loaded with everything from tuna and clams to anchovies, sharks, and treasures,” this new content is available now.

Beyond simply offering a fresh world to explore and new aquatic life to catch, Friendly Fishing aims to teach players about the critical issue of ocean pollution. As you fish, you won’t just reel in underwater creatures; you’ll also pull out plastic waste. But don’t worry, this isn’t just trash—you can use it to craft unique and helpful items! The more you clean up the ocean, the more fish species you’ll unlock (over 90 types in total!) and the more you’ll learn about real-world ocean cleanup initiatives.
The add-on also features a vibrant aquarium for you to fill with your catches and even opportunities to suit up for a deep dive to explore hidden underwater ruins.
Microsoft is showing its commitment by making an initial $100,000 donation to Conservation International, and all net proceeds from the Friendly Fishing add-on will also go directly to the organization.
You can purchase Friendly Fishing for 990 Minecoins in the Minecraft Marketplace. Currently, $5.99 will get you 1020 Minecoins.
