Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh is brimming with excitement following the announcement of two nominations for his 2024 film, Amar Singh Chamkila, at the upcoming International Emmy Awards. Speaking exclusively to HTCity, Dosanjh, who portrayed the titular role in Imtiaz Ali’s directorial venture, shared his elation:
“This is such a big moment,” Dosanjh conveyed with humility. He further added, “And not just for me, but for Amar Singh Chamkila, an artist from Punjab who is being celebrated on the global stage.”
The film, released on Netflix, has earned nominations in two key categories: Best TV Movie/Mini-series for the film itself, and Best Performance By An Actor for Diljit Dosanjh. Dosanjh expressed his profound honor, stating, “I feel truly honored that Amar Singh Chamkila, an artist from Punjab, is being recognized and talked about at a global level on such a prestigious stage like the International Emmys. This nomination is not just for me, but for the entire legacy of Chamkila. I am grateful to Imtiaz Ali Sir for choosing me for the role.”
The 2025 International Emmy Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in New York City on November 24.
