Actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh has publicly addressed the intense controversy surrounding his film, Sardaar Ji 3. The discussion arose in the wake of a recent India vs. Pakistan cricket match, which coincided with a sensitive period following a tragic terror attack.
During a concert in Kuala Lumpur, Dosanjh took the stage to clarify the situation. He emphasized that his film was shot well before the devastating Pahalgam terror attack occurred, while the cricket match between the two nations took place afterwards. Several videos of his heartfelt speech, where he sought the audience’s permission before speaking, have since gone viral across social media platforms.
“When my film Sardaar Ji 3 was made in February, matches were being played,” Dosanjh stated. “However, after the tragic Pahalgam terror attack, our prayers have consistently been for the terrorists to receive the harshest punishment. It’s important to understand the timeline: my film was completed before the attack, and the match happened after.”
The acclaimed artist passionately asserted his unwavering loyalty to his country, a declaration that was met with thunderous cheers and applause from the crowd. He further remarked, “I have many things I could say, but I chose to remain silent and keep them to myself. I simply don’t wish to engage in that.”
The core of the controversy surrounding Sardaar Ji 3 originated from the decision to cast Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. Released overseas on June 27, the film faced significant public outcry and criticism amidst heightened India-Pakistan tensions following the Pahalgam incident.
In response to the widespread backlash from both the film fraternity and social media users, the makers of Sardaar Ji 3 ultimately announced that the movie would not be released in India.
Looking ahead, Diljit Dosanjh is set to appear in the upcoming film Border 2, alongside Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty.
