Get ready, adventurers! The highly anticipated Diablo 4 Season 10 patch notes have landed, promising a thrilling shake-up to Blizzard’s acclaimed ARPG. This update brings exciting new build diversity with the introduction of Chaos Armor and powerful perks, alongside a much-welcomed fix for one of the most complained-about endgame mechanics: boss immunity phases. Our latest chat with the development team, including Charles Dunn, Aislyn Hall, Ben Fletcher, and Adam Fletcher, delved into all the details surrounding the new Season of Infernal Chaos.
Adam Fletcher kicked things off by acknowledging community feedback that previous “campfire chats” sometimes got bogged down in technical details, making them hard to follow. While a certain level of complexity is essential for top-tier ARPGs like Diablo, it’s understandable that players want clear, accessible communication. This shift suggests Blizzard might explore more refined communication styles in the future, perhaps even adopting the in-depth, edited formats seen in games like Path of Exile.
Regarding Diablo 4 Season 10 itself, there’s a strong sense of hope for the new update, and these patch notes only solidify that feeling. Chaos Armor stands out as the major seasonal feature, essentially reimagining many of D4’s strongest unique items as even more potent versions that can now occupy different gear slots. For instance, you could now find a non-helmet variant of the Crown of Lucion, allowing you to equip it alongside other powerful headpieces like the Harlequin Crest. Blizzard has even listened to player feedback from the Public Test Realm (PTR), adding more unique items for each class.

Beyond the new gear, one of the most celebrated post-PTR changes is the removal of boss immunity phases. Instead of becoming completely invulnerable, endgame lair bosses will now gain a protective shield. This offers them some defense against being instantly obliterated by powerful builds, but without entirely negating player attacks. This system will feel familiar to those who have played titles like Last Epoch, where it has been quite successful, so there’s high anticipation for its implementation in Diablo 4.
This particular boss immunity change is a permanent addition, and it’s not the only piece of PTR feedback that has made it into the live game. Nightmare dungeon sigils will now clearly indicate when they are valid for active Whispers, streamlining the process of finding the most rewarding runs. The Chaos Rifts encountered in Nightmare Dungeons are also being juiced up, promising better rewards, and their damaging pulse waves will no longer stack multiple debuffs, making them feel slightly less punishing.
Infernal Hordes have also received another significant overhaul; the previously underwhelming Soul Spires now boast multiplicative bonuses, making them much more enticing. Chaos waves will appear less frequently but offer substantially larger payouts. On the balance front, many class-specific Chaos Perks have received buffs, with the Rogue class seeing the most improvements. The Druid, however, has seen some minor nerfs as their PTR performance proved a bit too dominant.
The Diablo 4 Season 10 release date is Tuesday, September 23. While it might feel like Blizzard is still in a holding pattern awaiting new DLC, the introduction of Chaos Uniques represents one of the most significant changes in a while. Though they might not sound immediately groundbreaking, these additions are poised to foster some of the most innovative and interesting Diablo 4 builds seen since the launch of the Vessel of Hatred expansion.
