A fresh season has just landed in Delta Force, brimming with an incredible amount of new content, from a formidable new operator and high-flying fighter jets to an unexpected Metal Gear Solid collaboration. While this is an exhilarating period for the tactical FPS, significant competition looms. The popular Warfare mode will soon clash with the highly anticipated launch of Battlefield 6, and the extraction experience might feel the impact of Escape From Tarkov’s 1.0 update and its Steam debut. Yet, developer Team Jade has unveiled future plans that promise to be truly captivating, introducing innovative features that even its major rivals can’t match.
For players who, like me, gravitate towards the Warfare mode and are eagerly awaiting Battlefield 6’s upcoming release, the most exciting announcement is Delta Force’s planned destruction system upgrade. This ambitious feature promises “full-scene” destruction, meaning “every single building can be leveled” across a map. This level of environmental devastation is poised to surpass anything offered by Battlefield 6’s current system.
Earlier this year, EA’s Vince Zampella explained that Battlefield 6 aims for a balance, avoiding both overly rigid and excessively destructive environments to maintain map integrity and flow. However, for enthusiasts craving a truly realistic and radical destruction system—one where everything from humble shacks to towering skyscrapers can be reduced to rubble—Delta Force is stepping up to deliver just that.
According to Team Jade, this groundbreaking destruction system will be rolled out gradually, with the initial updates expected in early 2026.
Meanwhile, Operations, Delta Force’s intense extraction mode, is set to introduce an unforeseen twist. Sometime in Year 2, players will get the groundbreaking opportunity to embody one of the game’s formidable bosses. These challenging NPCs typically guard the most valuable areas of Operations maps, boasting powerful and distinct loadouts, much like their counterparts in extraction rivals such as Escape From Tarkov. However, the unique prospect of stepping into a boss’s role—imagine the thrill if Escape From Tarkov allowed you to hunt down players as Killa—is something truly novel Delta Force aims to deliver. Team Jade further hints that, while playing as a boss, you’ll even be able to recruit defeated players to fight alongside your cause.
Space City, one of the existing maps, is also slated for a Year 2 revamp, which will include a new underwater section. Furthermore, an entirely new Operations map, described as a “nuclear fortress,” is in development.
Adding to these advancements, a significant visual upgrade is planned. By the second half of 2026, Delta Force will transition to Unreal Engine 5, promising more realistic environments and stunning, improved lighting.
I’m genuinely excited to learn more about these promising new enhancements and features, particularly the innovative ‘play as a boss’ mechanic slated for Operations. While Delta Force might experience a temporary dip in player numbers with the impending releases of Battlefield 6, Tarkov 1.0, and Arc Raiders, these ambitious 2026 plans position it strongly for a resurgence should player engagement waver.
