Kyiv endured a brutal overnight drone attack by Russian forces, which tragically claimed three lives and left dozens injured, as confirmed by the Ukrainian capital’s Mayor.
Early Sunday, Kyiv’s military administration reported that multiple Russian drones were active over the city, issuing urgent directives for residents to stay in shelters to ensure their safety.
Mayor Vitali Klitschko later provided updated preliminary figures, stating that the attack had resulted in three deaths and 27 injuries.
Among those injured were six children, a heartbreaking detail shared by Mr. Klitschko on Telegram.
Explaining the destruction, he noted that drone fragments struck a nine-story residential building in the northeastern Desnyansky district, igniting fierce fires across multiple apartments.
In the same area, another nine-story apartment block sustained damage from falling fragments, leading to the rescue of five individuals.
Further incidents included drone debris impacting a 16-story residential building in the northern Obolonsky district, causing damage to one of its apartments.
This latest assault followed a series of Russian drone and missile attacks just the day before, which Ukrainian authorities reported had killed four people and wounded approximately twenty others in Kyiv.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump downplayed the possibility of a summit with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, stating emphatically that he would “not be wasting my time” on such an endeavor.
These comments coincided with reports from a Russian source familiar with ongoing talks, indicating that Kremlin negotiator Kirill Dmitriev had met with Trump administration officials, including special envoy Steve Witkoff. Further discussions were anticipated.
