The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued a vital security alert for all Google Chrome desktop users. A recent bulletin, released on Wednesday, exposes multiple serious vulnerabilities within Chrome across Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems. This leading cybersecurity agency emphasizes that these flaws could be exploited by malicious actors to execute harmful code on compromised systems. CERT-In strongly advises all individual users and organizations running Google Chrome on these platforms to promptly update their browsers.
Urgent Warning for Google Chrome Users from CERT-In
The latest vulnerability report, identified as CIVN-2025-0250 and issued by CERT-In on October 8, details several critical security weaknesses in Google Chrome for Windows, macOS, and Linux. According to the advisory, these vulnerabilities pose a significant risk, allowing remote attackers to exploit them simply by tricking a user into visiting a specially crafted malicious website.
These “high-risk” security flaws could enable an attacker to execute arbitrary code on an unprotected computer, disrupt system functionality through a denial-of-service (DoS) attack, or even gain unauthorized access to sensitive information. Specifically, Google Chrome versions prior to 141.0.7390.65/.66 for Windows and Mac, and versions prior to 141.0.7390.65 for Linux, are affected by these vulnerabilities, which include CVE-2025-11211, CVE-2025-11458, and CVE-2025-11460.
CERT-In is urging all users and organizations to update their Google Chrome browser to the latest available software versions without delay to mitigate these risks. Users on Windows and Mac should update to version 141.0.7390.65/.66, while Linux users need to update to version 141.0.7390.65.
While Chrome is usually set for automatic updates, users can manually initiate the process. Simply click the three-dot menu in the top right corner of your browser, navigate to Help > About Google Chrome. The browser will then check for and download the latest update. A quick restart of the browser after installation will apply all the crucial security changes.
