Fans of HBO’s compelling crime dramas might be wondering if the worlds of ‘Task’ and ‘Mare of Easttown’ could collide. Great news for viewers: creator Brad Ingelsby has hinted that a crossover between the two series, both set in the Philadelphia area, is a distinct possibility.
‘Task,’ which features Mark Ruffalo as FBI agent Tom Brandis, has captivated audiences with its blend of crime investigation and personal drama. Meanwhile, ‘Mare of Easttown’ became a cultural phenomenon, with Kate Winslet delivering a powerful performance as Detective Mare Sheehan.
Ingelsby, speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, shared his thoughts on the potential for the characters from both shows to inhabit the same narrative universe. “I think there were still more stories to be told about people in Delaware County,” Ingelsby mused. “They exist in the same world, so it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if Mare walked into a Wawa that Tom was in.”
While a concrete story for a crossover isn’t currently in the works, Ingelsby expressed his fondness for the idea of the two storylines intersecting. Actor Tom Pelphrey, who plays Robbie Prendergast in ‘Task,’ echoed this sentiment, stating that a crossover would be “great” and that he’d be “really happy about it” if it came to fruition.
Both ‘Task’ and ‘Mare of Easttown’ have been lauded for their intricate plotting and strong performances, making the prospect of them sharing characters a thrilling one for fans.
