Hades 2 Bosses – The Tartarus Route
Our journey begins along the Tartarus route, a familiar yet treacherous path filled with formidable foes.
You’ll encounter Headmistress Hecate, a humanoid witch wearing a large hat and clawed gloves.
Headmistress Hecate
Your revered mentor and parental figure, Hecate, demands that you prove your worth before granting further passage in your quest to find Chronos. This trial, naturally, involves besting her in a fierce battle. Don’t worry if you’re struggling; she’s a tough opponent.
Next, prepare for Scylla and the Sirens, a large sea monster holding a microphone.
Scylla and the Sirens
As you descend into the watery depths of Oceanus, alluring melodies will draw you in. These enchanting songs are courtesy of Scylla and her Siren companions—a musical trio of sea monsters who thrive on entertaining their audience before devouring any who dare approach too closely. Defeating these three performers requires careful strategy.
Beware Infernal Cerberus, a gigantic three-headed dog-like monster, seen from an overhead view.
Infernal Cerberus
Everyone’s beloved three-headed hound returns, but he’s far larger and much more enraged than when we last saw him. Melinoe suspects Chronos’s dark influence, and we tend to agree. Infernal Cerberus is exceptionally dangerous, capable of covering vast distances with powerful dash attacks and explosive blasts. Overcoming this mighty pup will restore him to his original, adorable form.
Finally, brace yourself for Chronos, the sleek, evil-looking man with black wings, wielding a golden staff.
Chronos, Titan of Time
The very god of time, Chronos, is the architect of this entire catastrophe and the reason Melinoë is estranged from her family. The battle against Chronos unfolds in two intense phases: the first involves dash attacks and minions, while the second ramps up the difficulty with perilous, potentially instant-kill attacks that demand constant vigilance.
Hades 2 Bosses – The Olympus Route
Alternatively, the Olympus route presents its own set of unique and dangerous challenges.
First, you’ll face The Cyclops Polyphemus, a huge cyclops picking his teeth clean.
The Cyclops Polyphemus
Polyphemus is a formidable, grumpy, one-eyed giant who takes offense at your intrusion into his territory. He plans to feast upon you, and his immense strength makes this a genuine threat. Polyphemus moves slowly, making him an ideal target for ranged attacks. However, he is devastating up close, so maintain your mobility if you prefer melee combat. Crucially, prevent him from devouring sheep, as he will recover health.
Next is Eris, Strife Incarnate, a female figure with short hair, holding a huge futuristic weapon.
Eris, Strife Incarnate
Eris embodies strife and discord. While irritating to converse with, she is a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. Eris wields the powerful Adamant Rail, familiar to veterans of the original Hades, and will periodically empower herself with a special shot, significantly boosting her damage output.
Prepare to confront Prometheus, Titan of Foresight, shown speaking to Melinoe.
Prometheus, Titan of Foresight
Prometheus is one of the initial new bosses introduced in early access. Your primary goal here is to inflict as much damage as possible, being less concerned about taking hits than in other encounters. The critical attack to watch for is when he leaps off the stage, causing sections of the map to turn red. You must expertly dodge these fiery onslaughts by moving into the safe, non-red areas in the correct sequence.
The ultimate challenge is Typhon, Father of all Monsters, depicted as the final boss.
Typhon, Father of all Monsters
Typhon, the final overworld boss and ultimate story boss of Hades 2, presents a unique battle. He doesn’t engage you directly on the stage; instead, he floats alongside it, launching attacks onto your battleground. Your strategy involves dodging his attacks and striking whenever an opportunity arises. The mighty Zeus will aid you in this epic confrontation, so patience and constant movement are key.
Hades 2 Minibosses
Throughout both routes, several minibosses stand guard, protecting valuable boons or rare artifacts. If a door to the next area bears a skull emblem, prepare to face a powered-up variant of a standard enemy. Most of these minibosses demand agility to evade one or two primary attacks. Charybdis, however, is a notable exception, featuring a unique design and proving significantly more challenging.
Tartarus Route Minibosses
- Erebus – Root-Stalker or Shadow-Spiller.
- Oceanus – Deep Serpent, Hellfish, or King Vermin.
- Mourning Fields – Phantom or Queen Lamia.
- Tartarus – Goldwraith, The Verminancer, or Doomstone.
Olympus Route Minibosses
- City of Ephyra – Satyr Champion or Erymanthian Boar.
- Rift of Thessaly – Charybdis or The Yargonaut.
- The Summit – Eye of Typhon, Spawn of Typhon, Tail of Typhon, or Twins of Typhon.
- Mount Olympus – Talos.
A gigantic sea monster is seen from a bird’s eye view, depicting Charybdis.
Charybdis the Devouring
We’ve dedicated a special section to Charybdis because, despite its miniboss classification, it feels very much like a full-fledged boss. This monstrous sea creature, reminiscent of the Kraken, may be encountered mid-way through the Rift of Thessaly. Charybdis’s main body remains out of reach, but its numerous tentacles will relentlessly attack you. Focus on destroying these tentacles one by one until this formidable foe is vanquished.
These are all the major adversaries you will encounter in Hades 2. If you find yourself struggling against any of them, remember that powerful keepsakes can turn the tide of battle. Additionally, learning about the various gods you’ll meet and their unique boons can significantly bolster your chances of success.
