The highly anticipated first update for Cloverpit has just landed, making this already addictive “one more turn” roguelike even more captivating. Inspired by Balatro, Cloverpit now features a much-requested ramp-up animation for those thrilling big wins. Developer Panik Arcade is celebrating an incredible launch, with over 300,000 copies sold in just four days, cementing its position as a standout title among the year’s best roguelikes.
It’s fantastic to witness Cloverpit’s success on Steam. Its dark, unique take on the Balatro formula is incredibly immersive. Players must operate a rusty slot machine to settle their debts with a sinister captor. This horror-infused atmosphere intensifies the satisfaction of each large payout, offering a glimmer of hope and a bit more time towards freedom.
“First off, a massive thank you to everyone who bought and played our game,” announced Panik Arcade in a recent blog post. “Selling 300,000 copies in just four days, as a team of two small Italian developers, feels like a dream come true. It’s incredible to think that most top streamers picked up our game, and at one point, we even surpassed Fortnite in Twitch viewership. It’s beyond our wildest dreams.”

The development team emphasized that they are diligently reviewing all player feedback from both Steam and Discord, actively working to resolve issues and enhance the game. Cloverpit patch 1.1 marks the initial stride in this process. While primarily focused on bug fixes, it notably integrates a highly anticipated, fan-requested feature.
Players will now experience exhilarating big wins even more intensely, as the slot machine’s animation now dynamically speeds up during impressive combo streaks, mirroring the satisfaction found in Balatro. This swift implementation is set to significantly enhance the game’s already compelling experience. Furthermore, Panik Arcade has slightly accelerated the extended visual sequences for large payouts, and the overall transition speed now also influences the animations of patterns and charm activations, allowing for an even faster-paced gameplay.
In addition to these enhancements, the team has addressed several key issues. They’ve corrected the hard limit for equippable charms to 33, resolved an issue preventing the full collection achievement from unlocking, and patched an exploit involving the powerful giant mushroom being dropped into a drawer. The Dung Beetle charm will no longer erroneously count discards twice, and Sardines now properly combo with Cloverfield.
Cloverpit patch 1.1 is now live! Players can still take advantage of a 10% discount until Friday, October 10, making the game available for just $8.99 / £7.65. For a complete list of changes, players can consult the full patch notes from Panik Arcade. Please be aware that due to certain charm adjustments, players continuing older runs might encounter minor discrepancies.
