Exciting news for fans: Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc is heading to the United States later this month, but you don’t have to wait to experience its captivating opening moments! Studio MAPPA has partnered with the acclaimed opening theme song artist Kenshi Yonezu to unveil the film’s spectacular opening movie. This feature film is currently dominating the Japanese box office, proving its immense popularity. The opening sequence is beautifully set to Yonezu’s brand-new song, ‘IRIS OUT.’
Behind this highly anticipated film is a stellar creative team. Tatsuya Yoshihara, known for directing pivotal episodes of the TV anime series and a significant portion of the Black Clover TV anime, takes the director’s chair for the movie. Hiroshi Seko returns to pen the script, with Kazutaka Sugiyama serving as Character Designer, all under the umbrella of MAPPA. Souta Yamazaki and Shun contribute as Sub Character Designers, Sota Shigetsugu leads as Action Animation Director, and Shoichi is the Main Animator. The distinctive devil designs were crafted by Riki Matsuura, working alongside Kiyotaka Oshiyama, director of the acclaimed film ‘Look Back.’
After its successful debut in Japan on September 19, Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc began its international screenings on September 24. Audiences in the United States will have the exclusive opportunity to watch the film in theaters and on IMAX screens starting October 24.
For those new to the world of Chainsaw Man, the TV anime series first captivated audiences in Japan in October 2022. The story introduces Denji, a young boy who works as a Devil Hunter alongside his loyal companion, Pochita, the ‘Chainsaw Devil.’ Plagued by a miserable life burdened by his parents’ inherited debt, Denji faces betrayal and is tragically killed. In his final moments, he makes a profound pact with Pochita, leading to his resurrection as the ‘Chainsaw Man,’ now possessing the very heart of a devil.
