Monster Hunter Wilds launched strong in early 2025, selling an impressive 10 million copies within its first month. However, its sales quickly dipped, and PC players faced persistent performance issues. Now, Capcom has issued a significant warning: with Windows 10 support drawing to a close, three of their most popular Monster Hunter titles might no longer be guaranteed to function correctly on the operating system.
This announcement came via a Steam message, where Capcom reiterated Microsoft’s plan to discontinue Windows 10 support on October 14th. Following this date, the publisher explicitly stated, “we will no longer guarantee that Monster Hunter: World, Monster Hunter Rise, and Monster Hunter Wilds will run on Windows 10 systems.”
While these games may still be playable on Windows 10 after the cutoff, Capcom cautioned that subsequent game updates could potentially introduce incompatibilities, jeopardizing future gameplay for users remaining on the older OS.
Interestingly, a Capcom executive previously attributed the initial sales decline of Monster Hunter Wilds to the high cost of PlayStation 5 consoles. The company did acknowledge PC-specific problems in June, and a subsequent update saw a boost in player numbers. Although a new patch for Wilds was released last month, a comprehensive fix for the broader PC performance issues is still anticipated for a winter update.
Meanwhile, Monster Hunter Wilds recently launched an exciting crossover collaboration with Final Fantasy 14, released earlier this week. Fans can also look forward to the formidable elder dragon Gogmazios making its return in December’s Free Title Update 4.
