A British content creator is capturing hearts across the internet after sharing a deeply touching video of himself observing the Karwa Chauth fast for his Indian wife. Nick Booker, known for his engaging content exploring Indian history and culture, posted a video on Instagram titled “My desperate Karwa Chauth search for the Moon.” The clip beautifully illustrates his journey across two cities as he honors the traditional festival.
Booker shared that he began his fast at 5 am in Mumbai, then flew to Delhi, where he resides with his wife and daughter. He recounted his experience in the video, stating, “I’ve been fasting for Karwa Chauth since 5 a.m. this morning when I was in Mumbai at Soho House in Juhu Beach, and now I’ve reached Delhi, which is of course where I live with my wife and daughter.”
The British creator identified Delhi’s Lodhi Hotel as the most suitable spot nearby to catch a glimpse of the moon, mentioning, “It was the best place to try and see the Moon quickly.” He also provided a brief, insightful history of the festival, noting that Karwa Chauth is celebrated on the fourth night of the Krishna Paksha – the waning phase of the Moon in the month of Kartik. He highlighted the proximity to Deepavali, remarking, “That means we’ve got nine nights to go before Deepavali – the night of Amavasya. That is when we bring the light, because we’re the ones who are lighting the diyas and welcoming Lakshmi into our homes.”
The video concludes with Booker breaking his fast by drinking water alongside his wife, expressing his warm wishes: “Wishing all of those who kept this fast. I hope you’ve broken it well, and I wish you all a Happy Karwa Chauth and Shubh Deepavali.”
