Bollywood actor Bobby Deol, currently riding a wave of success with his roles in Animal and Aryan Khan’s series The Ba***ds of Bollywood, recently offered a rare and intimate glimpse into his personal life. In a candid interview, Deol shared that he continued to sleep in his parents’ room until the age of 14, a practice he notes was quite common in many Indian households, particularly those with close-knit, joint family structures.
Recalling his childhood, Deol mentioned that his father, the legendary Dharmendra, always preferred to sleep with the lights on. This habit, it seems, left a lasting impression on Bobby, as he admits to carrying a similar preference into adulthood. “I don’t like it when it’s dark,” Deol confessed, adding that this often leads to mild disagreements with his wife, who has agreed to a compromise: a night light on the floor.
Deol also touched upon the dynamics of shared living spaces within his family, where siblings often shared rooms. He recounted his mother’s attempts to have him share a room with his brother, which he would often resist, preferring the comfort of sleeping near his parents. “My mother used to tell me to go down and sleep. Because we live in a joint family. We have a bungalow but we don’t have that many rooms,” he explained, highlighting the affectionate, albeit sometimes challenging, routines that shaped his upbringing.
These personal stories offer a heartwarming look at the Deol family’s close bonds and the simple traditions that have carried through the years.
