BMW Group India has proudly announced its strongest performance ever for the January-September period, selling an impressive 11,978 cars, marking a robust 13% increase over the previous year. Of these, BMW vehicles constituted 11,510 units, with MINI adding another 468 cars. The luxury brand’s motorcycle division, BMW Motorrad, also saw significant traction, moving 3,976 motorcycles.
The third quarter (July-September) proved to be exceptionally strong, with 4,204 cars sold, reflecting a remarkable 21% year-on-year surge. September stood out as a record-breaking month for BMW Group India, largely attributed to new GST adjustments and the festive season’s heightened consumer demand.
BMW’s long-wheelbase models, including the luxurious 7 Series, versatile 5 Series, popular 3 Series, and the innovative iX1, experienced an astounding 169% year-on-year growth, collectively selling 5,720 units. These extended models now account for a significant 50% of BMW’s total sales in India. The 3 Series continues to reign as the brand’s best-selling sedan, contributing 16% to overall sales. To date, BMW has sold over 15,000 long-wheelbase vehicles across the country.
SUVs continue to be the most coveted segment for BMW, with 7,040 units sold, an impressive 19% increase year-on-year. This category now makes up 59% of all BMW car sales, spearheaded by the highly popular X1, which alone accounts for over 30% of the total SUV volume. The premium X7 also performed exceptionally well, securing its position as another top-selling luxury SUV.
EVs Powering BMW’s Growth
BMW has solidified its leadership in India’s luxury electric vehicle market. From January to September, the company delivered 2,509 electric BMWs and Minis, representing an astounding 246% year-on-year growth. EVs now contribute a substantial 21% to BMW’s overall car sales. The BMW iX1 was the star performer, emerging as the best-selling electric model, closely followed by the prestigious i7. In a significant milestone, BMW has now completed over 5,000 electric vehicle deliveries in India.
BMW’s diverse EV portfolio currently includes six cars—the i7, iX, i5, i4, iX1 Long Wheelbase, and MINI Countryman E—along with two electric scooters, the CE 04 and CE 02.
The MINI brand also showcased strong performance, with 468 cars delivered during the first nine months of 2025. The MINI Cooper S was a standout model, experiencing over 90% year-on-year growth.
Furthermore, BMW Motorrad reported impressive sales of 3,976 motorcycles over the same period. The G 310 RR dominated the entry-level segment, while the R 1300 GS and GSA models were the favorites among higher-capacity motorcycles.
