Awez Darbar has candidly addressed the recent controversies surrounding his departure from Bigg Boss 19. In a candid interview with HT City, Darbar directly confronted fellow contestant Amaal Mallik, with whom he has a past professional relationship. Darbar expressed his frustration, stating, “I’ve remained silent for too long, but I can’t anymore. Amaal’s statements are entirely unfounded. I’ve never spoken negatively about him, yet he continues to involve me. I’m unsure of his motives – perhaps to leverage the platform or seek attention.”
Mallik had previously alleged that Darbar and his partner Nagma maintained a cordial relationship with him, referring to him as “Amaal Bhai,” as a strategic move to gain opportunities for promoting their songs. Countering this, Darbar shared his bewilderment at Mallik’s current stance. “Back in 2019, he messaged me, saying, ‘I see so much of myself in you, the way you were brought up.’ If my actions were so problematic then, why such negativity now?”
Darbar further elaborated on his surprise at the accusations, highlighting their past professional interactions. “He was aware of my work, my artistic style, and even my values. I was happy to collaborate previously, but I never anticipated these false claims. The suggestion that he paid us ₹20 lakh for our respect is truly unexpected.” He emphasized his respect for Armaan Malik and Daboo Malik, who have always been supportive. Darbar also pointed out his father, renowned music director Ismail Darbar, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali as individuals he could have approached for help, asserting his commitment to achieving success independently.
Expressing his disappointment, Darbar questioned Mallik’s intentions: “I don’t understand why Amaal is doing this. Perhaps he wishes to publicize personal conflicts. If you desire fame, you could have sought it by being my friend; what’s the need for all this?” Darbar’s partner, Nagma Mirajkar, echoed these sentiments, stating her shock and disappointment, while affirming her belief in Darbar’s integrity and their shared focus on their future.
Darbar further labeled Mallik as cowardly, remarking, “He never confronted me directly. He’s a complete coward; his only pattern was to apologize profusely if he said anything inappropriate. That’s why everyone in the Bigg Boss house, and even Gauahar Khan, calls him ‘sorry man’ and a hypocrite.”
