Employees across Coal India and its various subsidiaries are in for a substantial treat, with each worker slated to receive a performance-linked reward of ₹1.03 lakh for the financial year 2024-25. The company announced this exciting development on Thursday, September 25, 2025, through an exchange filing. This generous initiative will entail a total financial outlay of ₹2,153.82 crores, distributed among approximately 2.1 lakh workers. The individual reward amounts will be carefully calculated on a pro-rata basis, taking into account each employee’s attendance record.
These significant incentives were formally approved following the 6th meeting of the standardization committee, a key part of the larger Joint Bipartite Committee for the Coal Industry. The meeting took place on Wednesday, September 25, 2025. This vital bipartite committee, which includes representatives from both top management of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and major central trade unions, is responsible for negotiating and determining the wages, allowances, and other benefits for coal industry workers.
Beyond Coal India, the good news extends to around 38,000 non-executive employees of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), who will also be beneficiaries of this performance-linked reward. The Coal Ministry has projected the total financial impact for SCCL to be approximately ₹380 crore for these payments.
The Ministry lauded these performance-linked rewards as a “fair acknowledgment of the workers’ dedicated efforts,” emphasizing that “the disbursement of these PLR funds will provide a much-needed and timely boost to workers and their families, especially as they head into the festive season.”
