Battlefield 6 Players Hilariously Mock ‘Absurd’ Orange Recon Skin: ‘Too Good for Camo!’

Battlefield 6 is delivering some of the most cinematic FPS action in years, but one particularly vibrant Recon skin has sparked a humorous debate within the community.

For years, fans of military shooters like Call of Duty and Battlefield have debated the place of “goofy” skins. While EA and Battlefield Studios committed to a more grounded approach with Battlefield 6’s cosmetics, it seems one outfit has slipped through the cracks.

The controversy began when a Reddit user shared an image of the Recon class’ “Dead Sight” skin. This highly sought-after outfit requires significant playtime, involving the completion of numerous standard and specialist challenges. However, the reward for all that effort is a skin that, in certain lighting, strikingly resembles a traffic cone.

Players familiar with Battlefield 6’s demanding challenges understand the dedication needed to acquire every infantry skin. Yet, the “Dead Sight” skin presents a comical dilemma: it makes a sniper-heavy class character look remarkably conspicuous.

On some of Battlefield 6’s brighter maps, the Recon skin practically glows with its orange and black color scheme, looking more like something from Black Ops than traditional Battlefield. While most other skins feature muted tones and military camouflage, “Dead Sight” stands out dramatically. This is particularly ironic for a Recon class, where stealth is key, as the outfit could be spotted as easily as a flare.

While the in-game gallery shows “Dead Sight” as more of a brown, its appearance on bright maps highlights a stark contrast with other costumes, making it hard to overlook.

This single bright Battlefield skin is far less egregious than the superhero, celebrity, and sci-fi skins seen in Call of Duty, which have long divided its fanbase. Nevertheless, Battlefield players are thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to poke fun at the Dead Sight skin.

One Reddit user quipped, “If you’ve mastered the class you’re too good for camo.” Another added, “It’s not for sneaking, it’s an open challenge to the lobby.” A third joked, “Gotta say, for a mastery skin for the ‘stealth’ class, this is absurd lmao.”

The “Dead Sight” skin isn’t the only colorful addition. Before Battlefield 6 launched for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, players discovered the Assault class’ “System Override” skin, featuring bright green patterns, available through a special promotion. There’s also the “Get Loud” skin, which includes orange marks on the legs and face mask.

While “Dead Sight” has provided plenty of amusement, not everyone is thrilled. Some have deemed the skin “horrible” and vowed never to use it, even after unlocking it. Others worry that EA and BF Studios might introduce even more unconventional skins in future updates.

Despite these concerns, the developers have indicated no immediate plans to change direction. In a September interview, Ripple Effect technical director Christian Buhl and senior console combat designer Matthew Nickerson addressed worries about “goofy” skins in Battlefield 6. They stated, “We’re pretty happy with where we are. We are a gritty, grounded, realistic shooter. That’s what we intend to be, and that’s what the game is going to look like for a while.”

Battlefield 6 is gearing up for its Season 1 launch. Meanwhile, players can delve into discussions about the ‘zoomers’ versus ‘battledads’ movement debate or explore why this latest entry is bringing “absolute cinema” back to multiplayer.
