Battlefield 6 Season 1 is just around the corner, but the team at Battlefield Studios isn’t waiting to implement crucial updates and map out a robust plan for the game’s future. They’ve already detailed exciting changes for the battle royale mode, and now, the full scope of upcoming improvements has been unveiled.
Battlefield Studios announced that their primary focus is to boost overall game performance and elevate the combat experience. Several key updates are now live, directly addressing player feedback:
Currently Active Updates:
- Custom Search: Matchmaking has been fine-tuned to more accurately align with your chosen map and mode preferences. While the system remains flexible to ensure reasonable queue times, players with more specific selections might experience slightly longer waits. The team will continue to monitor and refine this feature.
- Vehicle Spawn Fix: A backend update was deployed to resolve an issue where vehicles sometimes failed to spawn on certain maps and modes. This fix has significantly reduced occurrences and improved balance across various map/mode combinations. The team is aware of a few remaining isolated issues and is actively working on further solutions. This change also had a minor positive impact on Breakthrough win rates, with more substantial balancing changes planned for the future.
- Portal Server Availability: Earlier this week, adjustments were made to XP earnings in Community Experiences.
The development team also revealed plans to refine player movement and enhance sight stability during specific character animations. They acknowledged ongoing issues with XP accumulation in Escalation and King of the Hill modes, which are currently under investigation. Furthermore, the developers are considering several assignment adjustments:
- Class Assignment – Assault 1: Kills required while using the Adrenaline Injector reduced from 30 to 3.
- Class Assignment – Engineer Expert 3: Vehicle repairs needed in a match reduced from 6000 to 1000.
- Weapon Assignment – Deadeye 2: Headshot kills over 200m with Sniper Rifles reduced from 150 to 5.
A future update will also decrease the 200m distance requirement for the ‘Deadeye 2’ assignment. Player concerns regarding the blinding sunlight in Battlefield 6 are also being addressed, with fixes planned to reduce its intensity when looking outdoors. This, along with other visibility issues, is slated for broader improvements later in Season 1.
The first major Season 1 update is set to arrive on October 28, bringing changes to weapon dispersion to ensure each weapon performs accurately within its intended range. The team also corrected bugs that negatively impacted dispersion when transitioning out of movement.
Battlefield Studios elaborated on their decision to close XP farm servers in Server Browser and Community Experiences, believing these servers detracted from the wider Portal experience. However, they promised continuous updates to foster healthier matchmaking and enhance overall Portal experiences. The following updates were implemented recently:
- Verified Experiences with “Bot Backfill” disabled will continue to grant full progression and XP.
- Custom Experiences will maintain reduced progression earnings, regardless of bot activity. This allows for creative freedom within Portal while preserving progression balance.
Finally, Battlefield Labs will temporarily go on hiatus as the team dedicates its efforts to the Season 1 launch. Battlefield Labs is expected to return in the future, with the studio emphasizing its invaluable contribution to preparing for Battlefield 6’s release.
Battlefield 6 has already achieved remarkable financial success, selling over 7 million copies and marking the series’ biggest launch ever. The game recently reached an impressive peak of over 747,000 concurrent players.
