Battlefield 6: Gamers Astonish by Recreating Call of Duty’s ‘Shipment’ Map Mere Hours After Launch

Just mere hours after its highly anticipated launch, players of the new Battlefield 6 have already achieved something remarkable: a perfect recreation of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’s iconic ‘Shipment’ map within Battlefield’s innovative Portal mode.

After years of eager anticipation, leaks, and widespread hype, EA and Battlefield Studios officially released Battlefield 6 today, October 10th, across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. Its promise to return to the series’ foundational gameplay has garnered significant attention, particularly within the rival Call of Duty community.

Battlefield 6 enthusiasts can jump directly into the community tab from the main menu and experience this beloved close-quarters map for themselves. A simple search for “Shipment” in the Search Experiences or Browse Servers tab is all it takes. True to its original form, the map in Battlefield 6 is a chaotic, loud, and incredibly tight space, constantly abuzz with gunfire – exactly as fans remember it from Call of Duty. Several “Shipment 24/7” servers are already live, offering non-stop action for those eager to dive right in.

The recreation has quickly become a fan favorite, with the most popular version already boasting over a hundred likes. Kudos go to X/Twitter user Matavatar, a PR officer at Deep Worlds, who meticulously brought Shipment to life in Battlefield 6. Matavatar began sharing their progress just yesterday and has also hinted at plans to recreate another classic Call of Duty map, ‘Killhouse,’ and even a map potentially featuring a Star Wars Star Destroyer.

With Black Ops 7 scheduled for release on November 14th, just over a month away, the competition between Call of Duty and Battlefield to captivate shooter fans is heating up. Battlefield 6’s Portal mode is already proving to be a powerful creative outlet, allowing players to spontaneously bridge the gap between these two massive franchises.

The Portal game mode, first introduced in Battlefield 2042, functions much like Halo 3’s Forge, empowering players to design their own maps and game types. While it has typically been used to resurrect and reimagine popular experiences from Battlefield’s own history, Battlefield 6’s enhanced capabilities allow creative minds to import maps from other franchises entirely. It appears the classic Call of Duty map, Shipment, is leading the charge in this new wave of cross-game content.

It will be exciting to see what other imaginative, fan-made maps will emerge from Battlefield 6’s Portal mode. Matavatar has already expressed interest in developing even more classic FPS maps, including fan favorites like Firing Range, Nuketown, Ziba Tower, and Metro, among others, for Battlefield 6.

Despite being available for only a few hours, Battlefield 6 has already seen its server queue system manage over 300,000 players, though thankfully, most users can jump into the game within minutes.
