Battlefield 6 Delivers Massive Update Addressing Key Player Concerns

Great news, Battlefield 6 fans! Significant progression changes are on the way, promising to resolve the frustratingly slow rate at which players unlock new weapons, attachments, and gadgets. While Battlefield 6 is undeniably a sensational title poised to join the ranks of the best first-person shooters, the PCGamesN team and the wider community have voiced concerns about several aspects. Progression has been a particularly hot topic, and now Battlefield Studios has clearly laid out its plans to improve the situation. Crucially, the update also tackles two other pressing issues: the prevalence of XP farms and the recent contentious adjustments made to Conquest mode.

Even without an intense grind, the slow progression in Battlefield 6 during regular gameplay has been a consistent point of feedback. While dedicated strategies exist to quickly level up by optimizing gameplay and selecting specific maps and modes, casual players simply looking to enjoy the game, experiment with different weapons and classes, or play with friends have experienced a noticeable shortage of new unlocks for their loadouts. This slow pace wasn’t just frustrating on its own; it also led to a surge of Portal servers solely dedicated to farming XP, inadvertently undermining the innovative and creative experiences players were building.

In a recent community announcement, Battlefield Studios confirmed its direct approach to these challenges. Players can now look forward to a 10% increase in the match completion XP bonus, alongside a substantial 40% boost for daily challenge rewards. Furthermore, the XP required for the first 20 attachment ranks is being lowered, ensuring quicker access to diverse weapon customization options for new players. To top it off, assignments previously locked behind career ranks 20, 23, and 26 will now become available at ranks 10, 15, and 20, respectively. This is truly welcome news for everyone.

Regarding the issue of XP farms, Battlefield Studios openly recognized their significant role in saturating Portal server capacity recently and emphasized the necessity for more decisive action to curb this trend.

A video is embedded here, providing more context on the Battlefield 6 updates.

According to the official communication, the developers stated, “After reviewing the data, we found that a large number of these servers were created primarily to earn XP, inflate player stats, and earn special accolades through defeating bots.” They acknowledged understanding the player motivation for faster progression and a low-pressure testing environment, but noted that these activities “led to some unintended side effects.”

The message concluded by stating that Battlefield Studios is “developing adjustments that are intended to diminish the number of XP farms taking up server space while further emphasizing playing with friends on both custom and verified experiences.”

This news is certainly welcome! But to make things even better, a separate announcement confirmed the reversal of the ill-advised ticket reductions in Conquest mode. The original intention was to encourage matches to conclude based on tickets rather than time limits. However, the overwhelming community consensus suggested that increasing or removing the timer would have been a better solution than reducing the potential for player engagements.

An image is shown here, depicting a Reddit post confirming the Battlefield 6 Conquest ticket changes.

The Reddit post explicitly stated, “We’ve heard your feedback about the recent reduction of Conquest starting tickets and will be reverting the ticket count across all maps to their original launch value of 1,000 and 45-minute timed rounds.”

With these significant adjustments to progression, XP farming, and Conquest mode, Battlefield 6 has delivered a hat-trick of positive changes in a single day. The swift responsiveness from the developers to address community feedback is truly commendable. It’s also worth noting how minor these concerns are when compared to the tumultuous launch of previous titles like Battlefield 2042. This installment has avoided major server issues, critical balance problems, unpopular new mechanics, and widespread game-breaking bugs. Battlefield 6 already offers a fantastic experience, and with these upcoming improvements and Season 1 on the horizon, the game is poised to become even better.
