The highly anticipated military shooter, Battlefield 6, has made an explosive debut, reportedly selling over seven million copies across all platforms within just five days of its launch on October 10. Available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, the game has also generated an impressive $350 million (roughly Rs. 3,077 crore) in revenue during this initial period.
An Unprecedented Launch for Battlefield 6
According to data from market research firm Alinea Analytics, shared with GamesIndustry.biz, these remarkable figures place Battlefield 6 as one of the year’s top-selling titles. Its five-day sales performance is only surpassed by another Electronic Arts release, EA Sports FC 26, which launched on September 26 and reportedly sold 7.7 million units in the same timeframe across PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo platforms.
Other strong performers in the gaming market this year include Monster Hunter Wilds, which sold 6.2 million copies, and the recent Borderlands 4, with 2.3 million units sold within their respective launch windows.
It’s worth noting that a separate report from EA confirmed Battlefield 6 does not incorporate any content generated by artificial intelligence.
Steam Leads the Sales Charge
A significant portion of Battlefield 6’s success can be attributed to PC gamers. Alinea’s data, which aggregates sales from Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation digital storefronts, indicates that over half of all sales — more than 3.5 million copies — came from Steam alone. The game shattered previous Steam player records, attracting over 700,000 concurrent players shortly after launch, solidifying its place among the most played games in Steam’s history.
Following Steam, the PlayStation 5 accounted for 23.7 percent of total sales, while Xbox platforms contributed 19.6 percent.
While Electronic Arts has yet to release official sales statistics, the game’s robust launch signals a strong comeback for the Battlefield franchise as a major contender in the first-person shooter genre. EA has also outlined plans for extensive post-launch content, promising new maps, weapons, and additional game updates to keep players engaged.
In related news, the publisher of Battlefield is reportedly planning to go private in a record $55 billion leveraged buyout.
Battlefield 6 originally hit shelves on October 10 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
