Electronic Arts has officially confirmed that Battlefield 6 achieved the “biggest launch in franchise history,” marking it as a “record-breaking success.” The military shooter sold over seven million copies. This confirmation follows a report from a market research firm earlier this week, five days post-launch.
Battlefield 6 Shatters Records
In a recent press release, EA hailed Battlefield 6 as “one of the biggest gaming and entertainment launches of the year,” emphasizing its unprecedented opening for the Battlefield series. The company further revealed that over seven million units were sold within the game’s initial three days. During its first three-day weekend, players engaged in a staggering 172 million online matches and streamed 15 million hours of gameplay. Impressively, Battlefield 6 also recorded the highest concurrent player count ever for a Battlefield title.
Byron Beede, general manager of Battlefield, extended gratitude to the players, stating, “Battlefield 6 was built with our fans. From the initial concept through to the implementation of Battlefield Labs and into the record-shattering Open Beta, we have been obsessed with player feedback. Together, with our players, we’ve had a singular goal: to craft the best Battlefield ever. And this is just the beginning – our first season of new content is just 12 days away.”
Battlefield boss Vince Zampella, too, echoed these sentiments, thanking players for the game’s successful debut and promising “much more to come in the weeks ahead.”
EA is set to launch Battlefield 6’s first season on October 28, introducing a new map and a fresh multiplayer mode. Two additional phases of Season 1 content are slated for release later in the year.
Earlier in the week, Alinea Analytics reported the same seven million copies sold across all platforms within five days of launch. According to their data, Battlefield 6 stands as the year’s second-largest launch, trailing only EA Sports FC 26. The game has also reportedly generated a massive $350 million (approximately Rs. 3,077 crore) in revenue since its release.
On the PC platform, over 3.5 million copies were sold via Steam, where the game achieved a peak of over 700,000 concurrent players, cementing its place as one of Steam’s most played titles ever. Battlefield 6 launched globally on October 10, available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X.
