Global music phenomenon Bad Bunny, a three-time Grammy winner celebrated for his groundbreaking impact on Spanish-language music, is officially confirmed to headline the prestigious Super Bowl Halftime Show this February.
Consistently drawing over 130 million viewers, the Super Bowl Halftime Show is one of the world’s most anticipated televised events. The upcoming spectacle is scheduled for February 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, just outside San Francisco.
In a heartfelt statement, Bad Bunny expressed profound gratitude: “What I’m feeling goes beyond myself. It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.”
Born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio in Puerto Rico, Bad Bunny soared to international fame with smash hits including ‘MIA,’ ‘I Like It,’ ‘Me Porto Bonito,’ and ‘Dákiti.’ With ten Grammy nominations to his name, he is also set to host the season premiere of ‘Saturday Night Live’ this week.
This marks the seventh Super Bowl halftime production by Roc Nation, the entertainment and sports powerhouse founded by billionaire rapper Jay-Z. Roc Nation’s partnership with the NFL was established during a period of considerable tension surrounding the league’s response to protests by quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick famously knelt during the national anthem to highlight police brutality against communities of color.
Beyond his music, Bad Bunny is a prominent voice on social issues impacting Puerto Rico. In a recent interview, he revealed that his latest tour intentionally excluded the mainland United States, citing concerns that his fans might face targeting by immigration authorities.
Last fall, Bad Bunny used an Instagram post to share an eight-minute video, spoken in Spanish, expressing his deep pride for Puerto Rico. He notably captioned the video ‘garbage,’ a direct reference to a comedian’s disparaging remark during a political rally, where Puerto Rico was described as a ‘floating island of garbage.’
Shortly thereafter, he publicly endorsed Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee.
Jay-Z praised Bad Bunny, stating, ‘What Benito has done and continues to do for Puerto Rico is truly inspiring. We are honored to have him on the world’s biggest stage.’
NBC will broadcast the upcoming Super Bowl halftime show. The NFL revealed Bad Bunny’s involvement across social media and during the ‘Sunday Night Football’ halftime, featuring a captivating video of the artist perched on a yellow field goal crossbar against a sunset beach backdrop, with his hit song ‘Callaita’ playing.
For weeks, speculation was rife that pop superstar Taylor Swift would claim the headliner spot. Her monumental 21-month Eras Tour, which concluded in December, shattered records with over $2 billion in ticket sales. Adding to her busy year, she also announced her engagement to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce in August. Swift is slated to drop her 12th original studio album, ‘The Life of a Showgirl,’ this coming Friday.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell further fueled these rumors, remarking in a recent interview, ‘We would always love to have Taylor play. She is a special, special talent, and, obviously, she would be welcome at any time.’
In 2019, the NFL forged a partnership with Roc Nation, entrusting them with the production of the Super Bowl halftime shows. This collaboration has since led to performances heavily featuring hip-hop and R&B artists, including Kendrick Lamar, Usher, Rihanna, and a memorable 2022 medley with Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and Eminem. Latin music made its Super Bowl debut under this partnership in 2020, with a vibrant show by Jennifer Lopez and Shakira in Miami Gardens, Florida.
Since 2022, Apple Music has served as the official title sponsor for the halftime extravaganza.
