In a strong display of support, dancer and choreographer Awez Darbar has publicly condemned fellow contestants Tanya Mittal and Neelam Giri for their body-shaming comments directed at Ashnoor Kaur during an episode of Bigg Boss 19. Darbar took to his Instagram Stories to express his disapproval, re-posting a video shared by Ashnoor Kaur’s team. In the clip, Ashnoor is seen apologizing for a rule violation, after which Mittal and Giri are heard making remarks about her weight, expressing surprise that her gym sessions and workouts weren’t affecting her physique.
The situation escalated when Neelam Giri, in a recent episode, pointed towards Ashnoor Kaur and asked Kunickaa Sadanand and Tanya Mittal if they wanted to watch ‘Jurassic Park,’ which was met with laughter from Sadanand.
Darbar shared the video with a caption: “Disgusting remarks like always!!! But I know @ashnoorkaur is strong she will handle it with grace”.
He is not the only celebrity to stand up for Ashnoor. Actress Jannat Zubair also took to her Instagram Stories, writing, “A person’s body is not public property for jokes and opinions. It’s 2025. We should’ve evolved past body shaming by now. She’s on that stage because she’s talented, confident and unstoppable, not because she fits someone’s idea of a ‘perfect body’. Proud of you @ashnoor Kaur for holding your head high and being You!”
Additionally, Rohan Mehra, Ashnoor’s co-star from ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ and a former Bigg Boss contestant, also criticized Kunickaa, Tanya, and Neelam. He stated, “Body shaming is unacceptable. What happened to @ashnoor Kaur today was wrong and needs to be called out. Respect and kindness should be the bare minimum. Shame on you, @iam_kunickaasadanand, @neelamgiri_, and @tanyamittalofficial.”
Currently, popular personalities like Gaurav Khanna, Kunickaa Sadanand, Ashnoor Kaur, Amaal Mallik, Tanya Mittal, Malti Chahar, Mridul, Farrhana Bhatt, Pranit More, and Shehbaz Badesha are competing for the Bigg Boss trophy. With most contestants nominated for eviction, except for Mridul Tiwari, Ashnoor Kaur, and Abhishek Bajaj, the house is experiencing heightened tension, even leading to Kunickaa Sadanand protesting by refusing her duties. The show airs on JioHotstar nightly, followed by a television broadcast on Colors TV.
