It’s hard to believe it’s been nearly a year since the dramatic conclusion of the acclaimed animated series, Arcane, and the equally memorable (for better or worse) debut of a certain Jinx skin in League of Legends. Remember the one that launched the Exalted tier and featured a gacha system that could set players back up to $250? Well, Riot is marking the anniversary of Arcane with a major event that brings back all series-themed skins. Crucially, the Arcane Fractured Jinx skin is also returning, this time equipped with significant new visual upgrades designed to finally justify its hefty potential price tag.
Last year, the initial reaction to this particular Jinx skin and the Exalted system was decidedly cold. Player sentiment cooled even further once the skin was released in the popular MOBA, with many expressing disappointment in the final product. Riot attempted to address feedback by making visual adjustments, including adding a new hood to Arcane Fractured Jinx to better align with her appearance in the series. Despite these efforts, the skin retained its reputation as one of the most controversial League of Legends cosmetics ever released.
Now, with the anticipated return of all Arcane-themed cosmetics, Riot has announced that Jinx, “The Loose Cannon,” has undergone another significant transformation. Paul ‘Pabro’ Bellezza, League of Legends’ executive producer, shared in a recent developer update that “Jinx will now feature a unique spawn-in animation when the game begins, alongside visual enhancements across all three of her distinct forms.” He added, “Both Shimmer Jinx and Powder will receive entirely new recall animations, complete with Chompers that uniquely suit each of their personalities.”
Andrei ‘Meddler’ van Roon, head of Riot’s League Studio, confirmed that current owners of the Arcane Fractured Jinx skin will automatically receive all these exciting new visual upgrades at no additional cost.
Beyond the cosmetic updates, the Arcane anniversary festivities will also reintroduce popular merchandise and feature a free reward track within League of Legends, offering players the chance to earn new icons and emotes.
Mark your calendars: The Arcane event, along with the return of all Season 1 and Season 2-themed skins, is scheduled to launch with League of Legends patch 25.23 on Wednesday, November 19.
