Apple is reportedly deep in development on fresh MacBook Pro models, set to be powered by the highly anticipated, yet-to-be-announced M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. While initial whispers pointed to a February unveiling, new insights from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggest a slightly adjusted launch window. These next-gen MacBook Pros are expected to make their grand entrance alongside the release of macOS 26.3. But that’s not all! Apple is also rumored to be preparing a new MacBook Air, potentially featuring these very same M5 Pro and M5 Max processors. Plus, we could see refreshed Mac Studio desktops hitting the market in the near future.
Mark Your Calendars: Next-Gen MacBook Pros Tipped for Early March Debut
In his latest ‘Power On’ newsletter, Gurman dropped significant hints regarding the launch schedule for these exciting new MacBook Pro models, packed with M5 Pro and M5 Max chipsets. He predicts we could see these powerful machines arrive as early as the week of March 2.
Gurman further notes that the new MacBook Pros are intricately linked to the macOS 26.3 release cycle. Interestingly, he points out that current MacBook Pro models, featuring the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips, are experiencing ‘short supply’ in the US. This scarcity often serves as a strong signal that next-generation hardware is just around the corner.
Beyond the MacBook Pro, Apple’s product pipeline seems busy. Gurman anticipates the arrival of several other Mac machines, including fresh 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro variations and a new MacBook Air, all likely sporting an M5 processor. We can also look forward to updated Mac Studio desktops, which are expected to follow closely after the spring Mac refresh. And for those keen on external displays and compact computing, the Studio Display and new Mac mini models are also slated for release this year.
Adding to the excitement, recent whispers suggest Apple might introduce a more affordable MacBook model in the first half of this year. This budget-friendly laptop is rumored to feature a display smaller than 13 inches and could be powered by an iPhone-class chip. Apple’s strategy here appears to be a direct challenge to the popular Windows laptops and Chromebooks on the market.
And the updates aren’t stopping at Macs! Apple is reportedly preparing to roll out a refreshed lineup of iPads, including updated versions of the standard iPad, iPad Mini, and iPad Air, all boasting significant chipset upgrades.
