Late in 2023, Konami delighted fans with the release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, bringing a significant portion of the iconic franchise’s early titles to contemporary gaming platforms. This successful launch immediately ignited excitement and a strong desire among players for a second volume to complete the collection. Now, the highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 has been officially confirmed as being in development by Noriaki Okamura, the producer of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. However, details regarding the specific games that will be featured in this upcoming collection remain under wraps.
During a recent Tokyo Game Show presentation, Okamura addressed inquiries about the next Master Collection installment. According to a fan translation shared by X user Kuwabara357, and further reported by Video Games Chronicle, Okamura acknowledged that while “Vol. 2 is moving forward properly,” the development team needs “a little more time” before revealing any concrete information.

Undoubtedly, the most highly anticipated inclusion for Volume 2 is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. This fan-favorite title has been exclusively locked to the PlayStation 3 since its initial release, making a modern port a dream for many. Additionally, the first Master Collection notably omitted Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, a beloved 2010 PlayStation Portable entry that did receive a remaster in the 2011 Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. Another portable title, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, was also absent from the initial Master Collection.
Given these omissions and widespread demand, it’s plausible that Master Collection Vol. 2 could feature these titles, alongside both segments of Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain. However, as Konami has yet to provide official confirmation, these remain hopeful speculations for now.
Meanwhile, fans can look forward to the launch of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater’s ‘Fox Hunt’ multiplayer mode on October 30. MGS Delta producer Yuji Korekado has also previously hinted at the possibility of further remakes within the franchise should Delta prove successful. Both Okamura and Korekado have voiced a desire to pass the torch to a new generation of developers if entirely new Metal Gear Solid games are to be created.
An exclusive GameStop merchandise collection for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has also been revealed, offering fans a range of new items.
