Sources indicate that Sony is gearing up for a significant PlayStation event next week. While it’s unclear if this will be a State of Play or a larger PlayStation Showcase, the latter hasn’t been seen in over two years, building anticipation.
Recent PlayStation State of Play events have been dedicated to single titles, such as the July presentation for the exclusive Ghost of Yotei, and a more recent one featuring the James Bond game 007: First Light by IO Interactive. If this new rumor holds true, it would mark a second major PlayStation announcement this month. Notably, the leaker NateTheHate2 accurately predicted the timing of the latest Nintendo Direct earlier this September.

Among the games potentially showcased at this upcoming PlayStation event is Marvel’s Wolverine by Insomniac Games. Speculation has been building around its appearance, further fueled by a recent report from MP1st suggesting a 2026 release for the title. Marvel’s Wolverine was originally unveiled in 2021.
Additional titles that could make an appearance include Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Housemarque’s Saros (from the creators of Returnal), and various other anticipated third-party games. This would add to Sony’s already busy year, which has seen five PlayStation State of Play events so far. It’s crucial to remember that Sony has yet to make any official announcements regarding this rumored presentation.
