Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, announced on Sunday (October 12, 2025), that Afghanistan is committed to a peaceful resolution of its ongoing conflict with Pakistan. However, he stressed that if diplomatic efforts prove unsuccessful, the country possesses alternative strategies.
Muttaqi’s remarks, delivered at a press briefing at the Afghan embassy, come in the wake of heightened tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan. These tensions recently manifested in Pakistani air strikes on Kabul on Thursday (October 9, 2025), which followed earlier clashes between forces from both nations.
Muttaqi assured the media that the current situation is under control.
He reiterated, “We desire a peaceful resolution to the situation, but if these peace initiatives do not succeed, we do have other options available to us.”
The Afghan Acting Foreign Minister also noted, “We maintain strong relations with the people and government of Pakistan, but there are certain elements within that country attempting to create problems.”
