The latest PlayStation 5 firmware update, Version: 25.07-12.20.00, is now available. While it brings the usual system stability enhancements, Sony has also added a helpful new feature: the ability to easily check the serial numbers for both your PS5 console and your DualSense controllers.
This update also introduces stability improvements for the DualSense Edge wireless controller, refines on-screen messages and overall usability, and boosts general system performance.

- You can now find the serial number of your PS5 console and any DualSense wireless controllers connected via USB or Bluetooth.
- To find your console’s serial number: Go to Settings > System > System Software > Console Information.
- To find your DualSense controller’s serial number: Go to Settings > Accessories > General > Advanced Settings > View Serial Number.
- The device software for the DualSense Edge wireless controller has been updated for improved stability.
- Messages and overall usability on various screens have been enhanced.
- Overall system software performance and stability have been improved.
This is the second firmware update this month, following a minor stability patch earlier in October. For 2025, major PS5 changes have been minimal, with previous updates primarily focusing on bringing back classic PlayStation console user interfaces and modifying activity settings, alongside various small tweaks.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the original PlayStation’s launch in the US and Europe. To celebrate, fans can look forward to new PlayStation-themed shoes, packaged in limited-edition boxes that capture the ’90s aesthetic. A deluxe book titled “PlayStation: The First 30 Years,” which chronicles the console’s creation, is also available for preorder. On the gaming front, Sony recently launched “Ghost of Yotei,” one of its biggest first-party console exclusives of the year. Additionally, the PS Plus Game Catalog has received an update with several exciting new titles.
