Certain games carve out a permanent space in our memories. Perhaps it was the exhilarating drives through Los Angeles in L.A. Noire, dishing out justice while bending every traffic rule, or the pure satisfaction of finally defeating the Archdemon in Dragon Age: Origins, confirming my decision to align with the werewolves. Some stories just resonate deeply. For me, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt is one of those titles. From its launch, I found myself endlessly immersed, gliding through Prague’s blood-red skies, scouting from the lofty rafters of the Burning Church, or soaking in the vibrant energy of the Divine Disco. In a genre often saturated with similar experiences, Bloodhunt truly offered something distinctive.
However, Bloodhunt’s fate has been slowly unraveling for a while. Back in May 2023, Sharkmob announced the end of active development. A few months later, in September, the game largely ceased operations, and even though the servers technically stayed online, it felt as though Prague had already been consumed by the Red Mist. Now, following the somewhat troubled release of Bloodlines 2, Sharkmob has delivered the final blow: Bloodhunt’s servers will permanently shut down in 2026.
In a heartfelt statement, Sharkmob conveyed: “When we first invited you to the streets of Prague, our greatest hope was that the nights you spent there would become cherished memories – and they truly did. From the intense rooftop skirmishes to the unexpected friendships forged in the chaos, Bloodhunt has come alive through each of you in countless unforgettable ways.
“Yet, despite our incredible community’s dedication, the current player population has reached a point where maintaining the servers is simply no longer sustainable. This has led us to the painful decision to take Bloodhunt offline. The sun will soon set on Prague for the final time. We will be shutting down the Bloodhunt servers on April 28, 2026, after which the game will no longer be accessible.”
Sharkmob has also confirmed that, starting immediately, players will no longer be able to purchase Tokens, the game’s in-game currency. However, the store will remain accessible for players to spend any existing balance they might have.
This news is truly heartbreaking, especially as I’d recently considered diving back into Bloodhunt after the launch of Bloodlines 2. While not entirely surprising – the game’s daily player count has typically ranged between 400 and 600 – I’ll deeply miss the thrill of stalking rooftops as a Prowler Nosferatu with my sniper (that one memorable shot from the top of the crane still comes to mind!) or boosting my friends as a graceful Toreador Muse. At least there’s still a window to try out the Tremere Scholar; their aesthetic is simply captivating.
Even with its distinctive style and engaging, innovative gameplay, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt will officially shut down its servers on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. On this date, the game will be rendered entirely offline and removed from all digital sales platforms for both PC and PlayStation.

A fun personal anecdote: it was the very first game my partner and I genuinely played together as a couple, and despite my admittedly terrible gunplay, we’re still happily together. Perhaps I truly am a Toreador in real life!
