The Sims franchise has long been a staple of PC gaming, known for its immersive life simulation. Its appeal extends to portable play, whether on a laptop or handheld device like the Steam Deck. Yet, for true on-the-go accessibility, nothing quite matched The Sims Mobile—a free-to-play experience that offered a surprisingly robust Sims world on your phone. However, after seven years of dedicated support, the game has just received its final update and, to the surprise of many fans, will be removed from both Apple and Google Play stores on October 21.
Although the pace of updates for The Sims Mobile had slowed recently, the news of its permanent removal and the cessation of support has caught many off guard. While this popular spin-off of The Sims 4 will be delisted very soon, players can still enjoy it for a few more months. Sadly, Electronic Arts has already confirmed the exact date when The Sims Mobile’s servers will be shut down: Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
In a recent announcement, EA revealed that the final update for The Sims Mobile eliminates all real-money purchases. Existing in-game currencies will remain usable, allowing current players to spend what they have, but no new purchases of packs or other content can be made with real money. To ensure everyone can make the most of the remaining time, the update also generously provides players with unlimited energy. This feature aims to simplify completing projects and enhance enjoyment during the game’s final months.
As noted, the game will vanish from digital storefronts on October 21. Nevertheless, if you’ve previously downloaded The Sims Mobile, you will still retain the option to redownload it to your device even after its removal.

Over the next three months, EA has outlined a series of in-game events and limited-time quests leading up to the complete shutdown in January. As a grand farewell, all Build Mode and Create A Sim content will be unlocked for every player on Tuesday, January 6. The developers state, “We want to give everyone the opportunity to build their dream home, design their perfect Sims, and experience everything The Sims Mobile has to offer before the servers close.”
The game will officially cease operations on January 20, 2026. Since all save data is stored on the game’s servers, this date will render The Sims Mobile completely unplayable, bringing an end to its seven-year journey.
Launched in 2018, The Sims Mobile was initially a significant success, reportedly generating over $25 million in revenue and achieving 41.5 million downloads within its first few months. Despite receiving more than 50 updates over the years, it appears that player engagement and revenue have seen a considerable decline recently.
To summarize: The Sims Mobile has received its conclusive update and will be removed from app stores on Tuesday, October 21. For those who have already downloaded it, access will remain until Tuesday, January 20, 2026, after which it will become unplayable due to server closure.
Even as The Sims Mobile bids farewell, its popular counterpart, The Sims 4, continues to thrive. Players can explore various exciting mods and helpful cheats to enhance their gameplay and create even more extraordinary virtual lives.
