If the anticipation for GTA 6 and a return to Vice City is becoming unbearable, there’s fantastic news! The beloved PC and PS2 adventure, Scarface: The World is Yours, has suddenly made a comeback after two decades. Its re-release was initially rushed onto the Epic Games Store following a backend error that pushed it live earlier than intended. Considered one of the best crime games based on a licensed property from its era, this captivating, finale-altering sequel is finally back, offering players a fresh opportunity to embody the iconic rags-to-riches figure, Tony Montana.

Scarface: The World is Yours picks up directly after the dramatic climax of the 1983 movie, but with a twist that rewrites its original ending. Instead of his cinematic demise, Tony Montana embarks on a brutal journey of revenge against those who usurped his drug empire. This action-adventure title presented a formidable challenge to Grand Theft Auto: Vice City at the time, though it couldn’t quite match the ambitious scale later achieved by Rockstar’s San Andreas. The game masterfully captured the raw essence and tone of the original film, largely thanks to the voice of André Sogliuzzo, who was personally selected by Al Pacino to perfectly emulate his 80s persona.
This unexpected Scarface re-release surprised many when it became available for purchase on the Epic Games Store. However, publisher EC Digital has since confirmed that the game will also be arriving on Steam. The company also provided clarity regarding the inclusion of AI upscaling as an optional feature.
“Due to a technical issue during backend configuration, the game was unintentionally pushed live on a different platform earlier than planned,” EC Digital stated in a post on the Scarface Steam page. “We want to clarify that our intended long-term release platforms include Steam, and we’re now accelerating our efforts to finalize this version.” The publisher added that some content on the current page might still contain “placeholder content” due to the accelerated launch.
EC Digital further explained that the upcoming Steam version will include a free optional HD graphics upgrade as a downloadable content pack. This enhancement utilizes AI-assisted techniques to improve various visual elements while meticulously preserving the game’s original experience. The use of AI is entirely optional, allowing players to seamlessly switch between the classic and enhanced visuals whenever they wish. While AI upscaling isn’t everyone’s preference, offering it as a choice for players who desire it makes it a much more agreeable addition.
Scarface: The World is Yours is currently available on the Epic Games Store for $29.99 / £23.79, with a Steam release coming soon.
