Silent Hill f Breaks Records: Over 1 Million Copies Sold, Outpacing Silent Hill 2 Remake’s Launch

Konami officially announced on Monday that its latest survival horror sensation, Silent Hill f, has successfully sold one million copies worldwide across both physical and digital platforms. Launched on September 25 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X, the game hit this impressive sales mark in an astonishing single day. This rapid success means Silent Hill f is selling even faster than Konami’s previously released Silent Hill 2 remake.

The publisher further specified that by September 26, merely 24 hours post-launch, Silent Hill f had already reached the one million unit mark. These figures encompass all sales, combining both digital purchases from platforms like Steam, Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store, and physical copies for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X.

In a statement posted on its website, Konami highlighted this achievement, noting, “This milestone solidifies the series’ reputation as a legendary horror franchise, continuously captivating fans who seek a deeply disturbing psychological horror experience.” They further added, “With SILENT HILL f, players are immersed in a chilling narrative crafted by Ryukishi07, brought to life through a ‘beautiful yet horrifying’ artistic direction.”

The article’s main visual content featured a prominent image showcasing the terrifying atmosphere of Silent Hill f, credited to Konami. An additional image later in the article depicted the game’s setting: the fictional Japanese village of Ebisugaoka in the 1960s, also credited to Konami.

Silent Hill f Outpaces Silent Hill 2 Remake’s Sales

Konami additionally verified that their newest horror game is experiencing more rapid sales across various regions, including its home country of Japan, when compared to last year’s Silent Hill 2 remake.

The company elaborated on its Japanese website, stating, “While the remake of ‘SILENT HILL 2’, which was released last year, exceeded 1 million units shipped worldwide in about a week after its release, the number of shipments of ‘SILENT HILL f’ has increased at a faster pace in various regions, including Japan. As the latest work in the series, it has received a great response both domestically and internationally.”

NeoBards Entertainment, the developers behind Silent Hill f, publicly thanked fans for playing the game. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the studio announced: “🎊 SILENT HILL f has sold over 1 million copies worldwide in just 3 days! Thank you to all players who joined this adventure of psychological horror. We hope you’ve found the beauty in terror in this world set in Japan’s Showa era. ⛩️🌫️”

Beyond its commercial triumph, Silent Hill f has also garnered significant critical praise. It boasts an impressive Metacritic score of 86, and its Steam page reflects a ‘Very Positive’ rating from over 3,000 player reviews.

Notably, this installment marks the first time a Silent Hill game has been set in Japan. It follows the chilling tale of high school student Hinako Shimizu as she confronts nightmarish horrors in the fictional rural village of Ebisugaoka during the 1960s.
