Varun Dhawan’s Durga Ashtami Celebration Sparks Debate Over Servingware, Fans Rally in Support

Actor Varun Dhawan recently celebrated the auspicious festival of Durga Ashtami by hosting a Kanya Pujan at his home. He shared endearing photos on Instagram, showcasing the joyful occasion. In the pictures, Dhawan is seen sitting alongside five young girls and one boy, who were part of the traditional puja. However, the choice of servingware quickly became a talking point among his followers.

The photos revealed that while Dhawan used a steel plate for himself, the children were served halwa, chana, and poori on paper plates, with drinks in plastic glasses. This detail led to some criticism, with one user questioning the use of paper plates for the children when Dhawan used steel. Another comment stated, “Sir, You yourself are eating food in a steel stomach and feeding your children in plastic plates, this is absolutely wrong.”

Fortunately, many of Varun Dhawan’s fans jumped to his defense, countering the negative comments. One fan expressed frustration with the negativity, asking, “How can you be so negative? Why find fault in everything?” Another user offered a practical perspective, suggesting that disposable plates are often used for convenience, especially for children who may not finish their food. This fan noted, “Bro, kids sometimes can’t finish the food so they take away plates with them… usually many households do that… just because he is a celebrity doesn’t mean we have to criticize everything.”

Several fans emphasized the positive aspect of Dhawan’s gesture – spending quality time with the children. One comment highlighted this, saying, “Brother, what’s wrong in this? Doing something like this is more beautiful. It’s easy to find faults, but sitting with kids and eating from the heart takes a lot. Try doing some good work yourself sometime too.”

A particularly detailed defense came from a fan who pointed out that it’s common for disposable plates to be used for convenience during gatherings and religious meals, regardless of one’s financial status. This fan concluded, “It’s simply their choice. Most working people do the same. Happy Ashtami @varundvn. You’re doing good. Let the internet spit rubbish.”

Durga Ashtami, a significant day during the Navratri festival, falls on the second-to-last day of the nine-day celebration. Navratri began this year on September 22 and concludes with Navami, followed by Dussehra on October 2.

Looking ahead, Varun Dhawan’s next film release is ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari,’ scheduled to hit theaters this Friday.
