Akshay Kumar, a veteran of the Indian film industry with 35 years of experience, recently shared candid insights into the fluctuating fortunes of actors. In an interview with ABP News, Kumar recalled how the industry’s perception and treatment of a star can dramatically shift based on their recent film performances.
Kumar admitted that consecutive flops, even up to 15-16 in a row, have affected him. During such difficult periods, he prefers solitude and avoids social interaction. He credited his wife, Twinkle Khanna, for her understanding and support, noting that she manages household responsibilities during his career lulls.
Reflecting on the industry’s fickle nature, Kumar stated, “Your rooms keep changing size depending on the performance of your last film. When your film has performed well, you receive a presidential suite, sometimes vice-presidential, and other times just a regular room. This doesn’t happen to me now, but I experienced it at the beginning of my career.”
He further elaborated with a personal anecdote: “Once, I was doing a film with two heroes. I won’t name the other actor, but since his previous film was a hit, he got a bigger room while I was given a smaller one. I still remember walking into his room and thinking: ‘Why is my room not so big?’ But then I realised it was because my films hadn’t worked. One needs to take these things in stride and move forward. It was some producers who did this, not all.”
Regarding his recent and upcoming projects, Akshay Kumar was last seen in ‘Jolly LLB 3,’ which received mixed reviews but performed well at the box office. He has ‘Bhooth Bangal,’ directed by Priyadarshan, slated for release on April 2, 2026, and is also working on Priyadarshan’s ‘Haiwaan’ with Saif Ali Khan.
