Dolly Parton, the legendary country music star, has announced the postponement of her highly anticipated Las Vegas residency. This would have marked her first extended run in the city in over three decades, and fans will now need to wait until September 2026 to experience her live performances.
The 79-year-old artist shared in an Instagram statement on Sunday night that the delay stems from ‘health challenges’ necessitating ‘a few procedures.’ While she kept the specifics of her health private, Parton assured her fans that her signature wit was fully intact.
‘It must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up,’ she playfully remarked, adding, ‘although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!’
These six December concerts at Caesars Palace had been completely sold out for weeks, with tickets commanding thousands on the resale market. They were expected to showcase seven decades of her iconic hits, including beloved songs like ‘9 to 5,’ ‘Jolene,’ and ‘I Will Always Love You.’
Parton, who sadly lost her husband of nearly six decades, Carl Dean, in March at age 82, conveyed that she would continue her creative endeavors from Nashville until she is ‘show ready.’
She reassured her devoted fanbase, ‘And don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet. But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you.’
Last year, Parton revealed plans for her biographical musical, ‘Hello, I’m Dolly’ — a project she’s been nurturing for a decade — to debut on Broadway in 2026. It remains to be seen whether this upcoming theatrical production will proceed as originally scheduled. Her representative did not provide an immediate comment on Monday regarding the postponement.
